A Cool New Twist to Carpooling!
Few ideas are more appealing in theory than carpooling. Who wouldn't want to reduce commute costs by 75% or more, potentially saving thousands of dollars a year? After all, it wouldn't be too difficult to finance a trip to Tahiti by saving 3/4 of the money you currently spend on gas and tolls in a year. You just need to find three people to ride along with you.

Again theoretically, that shouldn't be too hard if you commute to the common destinations in the Bay Area. After all, most people would rather snooze than drive anyway.

However, the reality of carpooling and its drawbacks are well known and until now very difficult to overcome.

All that may soon change. The clever people at Zimride are taking the power of social networking and applying it to solve those problems. By using social networks Zimride allows you to find people with similar interests, musical tastes, etc. to fill the seats in your car, get you paid via PayPal, and for your riders Zimride books the seat, and protects them against flaky drivers by applying full refunds in the event of a no-show.

Here's a quick rundown of how it works, just click here to watch a brief video and explanation of their program.

If you're going on an assignment with BOLT, why not give it a try? You can sign up through Facebook and avoid having to setup new passwords or special logins. If you're driving, you'll pick up additional cash to cover your driving expenses, and if you're riding you'll save a few bucks and wear and tear on your car and yourself. Zimride works for a one time event or longer assignments.

You could get to know other BOLT employees while cutting down on the traffic jams in the area. Finally you'll get the satisfaction of knowing you're helping the environment too! Zimride could be ideal for a one day assignment at a special event or a winery bottling line job.

Please note we are offering this as a suggestion.  BOLT has no relationship with Zimride.  We just think it's an idea that may benefit our employees.
