BOLT Supports LLS
We're Hitting the Road!

Joanne at a Recent ASA Banquet
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Man & Woman of the (MWOY) campaign is a fundraising competition in communities across the U.S. in which participants vie for the title of Man or Woman of the Year.  They raise funds for blood cancer research in honor of local children who are blood cancer survivors, the Boy & Girl of the Year.  The titles are awarded to the men and women in each community who raise the most funds during the ten-week campaign (North Bay Campaign:
April 18- 2013 - June 25, 2013); the top local fundraisers in the country also win national titles.

Joanne Sanders, President of BOLT Staffing, community and civic leader and former City of Sonoma mayor, has been nominated as Woman of the Year candidate by the new North Bay Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

Joanne shares, "For the past eight years, I have spent thousands of hours serving my community as mayor and city councilwoman. Public service has been an extremely rewarding experience both for me and my family. Now, that I am out of office I have time to devote to other community needs.  Curing blood cancer is not a right or left wing initiative; it's a cause we can all get behind."
Hit the Road Jack!

Join us: fight cancer!

Management and staff members at BOLT will be pounding the pavement June 2 in downtown Sonoma as we participate in the 10K/2.2mile race to raise money for the Lukemia Lymphoma Society. If you'd like to sponsor us, feel free to click here!

Unemployment Down!
Easy Commuting
and Hope for More Easy Commuting?
Employment in the Region Improves

We are happy to report the gloomy unemployment numbers of previous years seem to be improving across the region. In April the unemployment rate in the counties we service dropped to levels we haven't seen for a while.
Marin reported 4.6%,
Napa 5.9%, Sonoma 6.5% and Solano 8.1%.
This compares favorably to the national rate, that dipped to 7.5% in April.  Although higher than the national or neighboring counties, even Solano is well below the State of California's 8.5%.

Commuting between Napa and Sonoma?

Don't forget the VINE offers bus service between the Sonoma Plaza and Napa. The service allows connections to Sonoma County Transit routes and access to the Vallejo Ferry and BART for commuters going to Napa. One way fares are $1.50 and comforts like I-PODS, covered coffee and pillows are welcome!

Busy Summer Season...
Has us wishing for even more help for beleaguered commuters.  We'd love to see more transit options for people in Solano traveling to Napa county. Also for Sonomans working in Marin. This time of year jobs in wineries and hospitality really increase. As the local economy continues to develop around wine, warehousing and logistics are becoming a bigger part of our economic base. Both industries have significant numbers of people working 2nd and 3rd shifts. Wouldn't it be a good time for transit agencies to continue adapting to the new realities of our work lives?
