Commute Blues?
More Resources to Help!
From Joanne Sanders
Joanne Sanders
Last month one of our employees, Angel Anderson, responded to an article we ran in our employee newsletter about saving on driving costs.  Angel pointed out some of the resources available to commuters in the digital age.

I thought her tip would be useful for everyone on our mailing list and worth sharing with you.  She reminded us that there is a great resource for commuters in Solano and Napa Counties at the Solano Transportation Authority's website.

You can find out how to start a Vanpool, match yourself to a carpool, and other money saving ideas that can reduce your financial as well as emotional stresses and still get you to work comfortably and efficiently.

Meanwhile in Sonoma, Sonoma County Transit recently announced a real time notification system that broadcasts the arrival information to mobile devices, computers, kiosks and even land line phones.  While the County is a leader in adopting the technology, the chances are it will become widespread, if as expected, it will increase the usefulness of the service to commuters and increase ridership as a result.

Marrying technology with efficient transport promises benefits to everyone beyond just saving our own green!

Whatever you may think of going green, many things that you do to save energy also save you money. Common sense ideas from recycling plastic grocery bags into trash bags to finding efficient ways to save or even generate you own power can benefit you and others!

Background Checks Coming Under Scrutiny
Refining your requirements beyond criminal checks

Recently, the federal government began to indicate displeasure at the possibility that criminal background checks could discourage applicants from applying for work. Naturally this is a vital matter and as the regulatory process grinds on we are keeping a close eye on developments. The American Staffing Association  is keeping its membership, including BOLT Staffing, apprised every step of the way. We want to assure you that we will remain in compliance.
Another common background qualification is "clean DMV." While no one is suggesting that is a problem so far, it is worth thinking about what you mean if you specify it as a job requirement. Do you need a citation free record? Or are you looking for no DUIs? Is a failure to stop acceptable, but speeding not?
Clarifying your needs before calling in a job order may give you the widest possible pool of applicants while meeting your needs!
