Staffing Employment Rises

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported a year-over-year increase of 8.2% in temporary employment in September 2012 compared with September 2011.

The news comes despite the fact that overall nonfarm employment was slowing from August to September this year.

It appears that employers are approaching the election season cautiously as the lack of direction from Washington combined with a feeble economy makes planning and the commitment of hiring difficult.

The coming months will likely continue to be uncertain, regardless of the results at the polls. Obviously with work to do, employers continue to look to flexible staffing to meet the demands of their customers.

This flexibility is the key benefit of using agency people in uncertain times.  In addition to getting to know a person's strengths, employers are able to benefit from added productivity without the burdens of hiring heading into an iffy future. If the business climate stabilizes you already have your employee without the costs of sourcing on your own.

If it's time for you increase your output, why not do it as efficiently as possible? Call us today and we'll show you how!

Napa, Sonoma, and Solano Report Unemployment Dips In September

There's brightening news in our local counties. All three reported declines in the unemployment rate, with Solano down to 9.3% (from 9.9% in August), Sonoma down to 7.6% (from 8.3% in August) and Napa beating all, reporting 6.9% (from 7.5% in August).

Among the most hopeful signs is an increase in construction jobs in September 2012 vs. September 2011. Sonoma is doing its own crowing over the decline in unemployment, calling it the lowest since December 2008.

We've sensed a tightening in our offices too. While it's a relief to see signs of parting clouds, it's time to recognize that the competition for the best people is likely to tighten in coming months.

California Clarifies...

The State Department of Labor Standards Enforcement issued revised a template and guidance to employers to make it easier to comply with business-friendly named Wage Theft Prevention Act.

If you need the template for your business you can get it here.

The important part for us is to let you know that BOLT is in full compliance with the law. Every BOLT employee is informed of their wages in writing prior to being dispatched to your workplace.
