If you read my article Which Site is Sodom? you know I had started investigating the ages of the patriarchs--Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. My second article delves deeper into that issue. I have just submitted the final edited version for publication so I'll let you know when it is available online. By the way my Professor gave the article an "A" saying I was investigating "new territory." This does not mean I'm abandoning my belief in Scripture or inventing a new interpretation. Instead, because I believe the Bible is true, I am trying to find what it meant to the original author and readers. Often this may be different than what we assume it meant.

Dissertation

But all this in-depth investigation has led me to reconsider my dissertation topic. As I scoured the dusty tomes for my article on the ages of the patriarchs I realized there is a lot more research needed in this area. And I have been pleasantly surprised at the interest this topic has generated. I really want to write a dissertation on a topic that is relevant and exciting. And this topic has already led to publication, and to interaction with several people outside mainstream theological scholarship. It is an unsolved mystery that very few people have looked at. So I am preparing a proposal for a new dissertation topic. Pray for wisdom and honest feedback as I pursue this process.

Thank you for praying for my New Testament Argument papers. After a flurry of frantic writing, I finished them on time (250 pages worth) and handed them in. Plus my Old Testament Arguments were graded with an "A." Hopefully that bodes well for my NT Arguments, but I have a different grader, so ... keep praying! This semester I hope to take my Comprehensive Exams and then start writing my dissertation-assuming I get the topic approved-in January 2015.

With Appreciation,
