Community Food Program Fare For All

Outgoing United Way of Wisconsin President Susan Panek, Executive Director, Oshkosh Area United Way, and incoming President John Coughlin, Executive Director, United Way St. Croix Valley.

United Way St. Croix Valley Executive Director John Coughlin has been elected President of United Way of Wisconsin. Coughlin will oversee the organization's 19-member Board of Directors, representing United Ways from all across Wisconsin. It is anticipated that he will serve two one-year terms.

 

Coughlin will work with United Way of Wisconsin's members to develop capacity in the 43 independent United Ways across the state. The mission of United Way of Wisconsin is to support and enrich a strong statewide network that maximizes the capacity of local United Ways to address human needs, improve lives and create lasting positive change across Wisconsin. The organization does this by assisting local United Ways in mobilizing public, private and nonprofit sectors through research, civic engagement, public policy advocacy and results-based funding. United Way of Wisconsin hosts a regional training conference annually.

 

"John is a great choice to lead United Way of Wisconsin. He is one of our finest strategic thinkers," said United Way of Wisconsin Executive Director Stephen Webster. "He's well respected by his peers. He understands the modern United Way from the ground up. We're fortunate indeed that he's willing and able to assume this responsibility," he continued.

 

Coughlin will continue in his role as Executive Director of United Way St. Croix Valley, which he has held since 1994. The organization has grown from a small United Way to one that now serves multiple counties in western Wisconsin. He will travel to Madison multiple times during the year for United Way of Wisconsin Board meetings and to supervise the two staff members. The state organization's budget will cover all travel costs.

 

"John has an unparalleled passion for the work of United Way," said United Way St. Croix Valley Board President Dan Draxler. "He is a great representative of United Way in the St. Croix Valley and will no doubt be the same for all of Wisconsin."

United Way St. Croix Valley is pleased to welcome Online Marketing Intern Nick Hoffman of Mahtomedi, Minnesota. Hoffman is a senior at UW-River Falls majoring in Marketing Communications with an interdisciplinary minor in oral and written communication.
