March Beers: Belgian Classics!
March brings around the biggest one day bicycle races of the year, often referred to as "The Classics". The first Classics is Milan - San Remo in Italy, the longest race of the year at 298 KM. After that the riders make their way north to the heart of cycling, Belgium. Three brutal races, with only a few days in between each event, push riders to their limit, both physically and mentally (E3 Prijs Vlaanderen, Gent - Wevelgem, and Ronde van Vlaanderen). Winning ONE of these races makes you hero; winning all these makes you a LEGEND.

Belgians love their cycling and they love great beer. During these races, pubs all over Belgium will be packed with people watching live television coverage and running to the roadside as the race rolls through their town, then right back into the pub to toast their heroes to the finish line. This month, we're helping you feel part of the cheering crowd by sharing our love of cycling and Belgian beer. So come on by the pub, er, we mean, café and join us for The Classics.
Bavik Premium Pilsner, Belgium - Bavik displays a nice round malt trait with a slight buttery touch that remains gentle into the middle, where the spiciness of the hops takes over. The lively carbonation makes for a light and effervescent body, and its drinkability makes it perfect session beer. 5.2% ABV
Urthel Hop-It (Belgian IPA), Belgium - Brewed with only malt (pils) and European Nobel hops. It's a truly unique beer for hop lovers. Pale golden in color with billowing white foam, the nose is hoppy and spicy. On the pallet it is very hoppy and intoxicatingly bitter but curiously well balanced. The malt and hops intertwine in a beautiful expression of complexity, contrast and complementary flavor. 9.5% ABV
Weyerbacher Merry Monk Ale (Belgian Tripel), Pennsylvania -
Merry Monks' is a Belgian style Abby Tripel. When you try this beer you're in for a unique treat. The special effervescence and creaminess are immediately apparent when pouring. The pilsner malts combined with the Belgian yeast strains yield a remarkable and complex flavor- perhaps you'll note subtle hints of banana. The flavor is nicely balanced and the finish moderate to dry. 9.3% ABV |

Wine: A Taste of France and Italy
This month we're pouring some oh-so-nice French wines in honor of the Paris-Nice (a.k.a. "The Race to the Sun"), held from March 3-10th, as well as some classy Italian vino in honor of Milan San Remo ("The Spring Classic"), the longest professional one-day race (held this year on Sunday, March 17th).
Here's what you can expect on the B3 wine list to get you in a European state of mind:
Noir 46, Malbec '07, France - French Malbec wines from Cahors have been known throughout history as the "Black Wine" and are reputedly the darkest in the world as they are almost black, or "Noir" in color. Noir 46 is the essence of French Malbec. Intensely rich color and delicious fruit flavors.
Corte Delle Rose, Pinot Grigio, Italy - A romantic bouquet of meyer lemon, with hints of crisp green apple on the palate. Fresh and inviting with bright fruit and an easy drinking style with a pleasing aftertaste.
Falesco Sangiovese, Italy - This 100% Sangiovese is intense and bright ruby red in color, with aromas of ripe cherry and strawberry. The excellent balance between fruit and acidity, and the slightly spicy notes on the finish are the unmistakable hallmarks of this wine. The soft and silky tannins frame the pleasant texture of this pure Sangiovese. |

B Creative Artist Open House: Darby Steinberger
Saturday March 2nd
7:30PM with music by DJ OAM
Darby Steinberger is an aspiring young photographer attending Lake Highland Preparatory School where she is in her senior year. Darby first fell in love with photography while on a family trip in the North Carolina Mountains when she was fourteen. She just picked up a camera, and couldn't seem to put it down. The following year, having decided to pursue photography more seriously, Darby took photography classes offered at her school. She has an endless passion for travel and for capturing the essence of what she sees, often looking for the not so obvious heartbeat of what she is experiencing. Wherever travel has taken her, her camera is close at hand. Darby was awarded the High School Award of Excellence at the Winter Park Art Festival and the Judges Choice Award at Lake Highland Arts Festival in 2012. |

Seasonal Treats & Drinks
This month, the theme of our o' so delish seasonal drinks and treats is, well ... deliciousness. And what could be a better theme for treats than THAT? A little taste of Spring. A little taste of St. Patrick's Day. And a whole lotta yum!
Latte: Nutty Irish Man: Jittery Joe's smooth Tour de Force espresso blended with your choice of milk and Monin hazelnut and Irish cream syrups (served hot or over ice, caffeinated or decaffeinated).
Waffle: Apple Oatmeal: our delicious Belgian waffle batter mixed with hearty oatmeal, and sweet cinnamon, cooked until warm and fluffy, and then topped with green apple slices. Maple syrup served on the side.
Gelato: Pistachio: Snacked upon for over 9,000 years, did you know that the pleasing pistachio was so loved by the Queen of Sheba, that she demanded that the entire region's pistachio harvest be put aside for her? We're less selfish and are happy to serve up your share of this month's pistachio gelato. All natural, preservative free, locally-made.
