happy new year 2013
Happy New Year!

Greetings!

Prospero Año, B3 Buddies! The New Year is finally here. How are those resolutions going? Falling off the wagon already? Don't worry, B3 is here with great food to help you fuel your healthy eating goals and some great events to help you keep that promise to have more fun in the year ahead.

January: Hit the Highlands

   highland brewing

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, Highland Brewing Company brews the finest and freshest ales in the Southeast. For 16 years, they have produced an impressive array of ales, from the best-selling Gaelic to their popular winter seasonal, Cold Mountain Ale. Highland Brewing Company began in the basement of Barley's Taproom in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, in 1994. It was founded by Oscar Wong, a Jamaican man of Chinese descent, and an engineer by trade. The brand was developed in honor of the Scots and Irish who settled in the Appalachian mountains of NC. Wong always loved beer and started this second career as "a fun project," when not a single brewery existed in the city. To kick off the New Year, we're bringing you a taste of Asheville, one of the most dynamic beer industries on the east coast.

kashmir ipa

Highland Brewing, Kashmir IPA, North Carolina - A full-bodied India Pale Ale. This beer is golden in color with a moderate malty character with full hop flavor true to the classic ale that has traveled on sailing ships from England to India.  Bold and brazen. 6% ABV.

Highland Brewing, Gaelic Ale, North Carolina - A deep amber-colored American ale, featuring a rich malty body. Cascade and Willamette hops add a complex hop flavor and aroma. This ale is exceptionally balanced between malty sweetness and delicate hop bitterness. 5.6%ABV

spanish flag and map Wine: Taste of Spain

Spain has a long history of producing fine wines, particularly the red wines of Rioja. Surprisingly, however, this famous name is just one small region among many, which produce equally good wines. Some of these regions are huge, and account for the fact that Spain has the largest area of land dedicated to viticulture of any country in the world. Savor a few sips of Spain with these delectable wines:

marco real Marco Real, Crianza Red Blend 2006, Navarra, Spain - 60% Tempranillo and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. This deep cherry-colored wine shimmers with violet hues. Aromas are elegant with ripe raspberries and strawberries, while on the palate it is medium-bodied with ample fruit and elegant toast from aging for 12 months in French and American oak.

T Sanzo, Tempranillo 2007, Castilla Y Leon Vall, Roble, Spain - Naturally fermented and aged in French and American oak for six months. It exhibits an expressive perfume of wood smoke, violets, cinnamon, incense, and blackberry. This leads to a mouth-filling, generous, richly-fruited wine with lots of spice, superb balance, and a lengthy fruit-filled finish.

To start of the year we're bringing back popular artist David Buckley. As a graphic designer and illustrator with Walt Disney Imagineering, David knows how to create images that captivate. The variety he gets on the job translates to his personal creative work where he likes to dabble in several styles and genres, mixing pop art, abstract collage, and realistic landscape, or whatever else happens to strike his fancy that day.

His creations and imagination will be adoring our café walls all of January and February.
