LARTL Thanks Gov. Edwards for Amicus Brief Signature
BATON ROUGE, La. - Today, Governor John Bel Edwards joined an amicus brief to the United States Supreme Court initiated by Texas Governor Greg Abbott and joined by eight other Governors urging the Supreme Court to uphold provisions of legislation requiring admitting privileges for abortion facilities.

Benjamin Clapper, Executive Director of Louisiana Right to Life, said the following upon the news of the brief, "Louisiana Right to Life applauds Governor Edwards for signing on to this amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to uphold common-sense regulations requiring abortion providers to have hospital admitting privileges. We believe admitting privileges are an important protection of the health and safety of women seeking abortion.  As the Governor of a state currently defending a similar law in federal court, Governor Edwards' supportive voice is essential."
