Thousands to Defend Life at Baton Rouge Event
BATON ROUGE, La. - Thousands of concerned citizens, religious leaders and elected officials will gather in Baton Rouge on Saturday, Jan. 23, for the annual Louisiana Life March South.

The event, themed "Life is Priceless," will consist of a march beginning at 10 a.m. from Galvez Plaza behind the Old State Capitol and conclude at the State Capitol, where a formal program of music and inspiring speeches will be held.

"We are looking forward to gathering pro-life citizens of Louisiana to stand for the priceless value of human life," said Benjamin Clapper, executive director of Louisiana Right to Life. "Now more than ever, especially after videos show Planned Parenthood selling the body parts of aborted babies, we need to send a clear message that the commodification of human life is unacceptable in America."

Sponsors of the event include Louisiana Right to Life, Louisiana Baptist Convention, Louisiana Conference of Catholic Bishops, United Pentecostal Church of Louisiana, Louisiana Family Forum, the Knights of Columbus, Baton Rouge Right to Life, the Susan B. Anthony List, Caring to Love Ministries and Louisiana's Concerned Women for America.

Speakers for Saturday's rally include David Scotton, an LSU senior who was almost aborted 20 years ago; Pastor Tommy Middleton of the Baptist Association of Greater Baton Rouge; Sancha Noel Smith, state director for Concerned Women for America of Louisiana; and the Honorable Leslie Ellison, New Orleans School Board.

While the Louisiana Life March South is taking place in Baton Rouge, Louisiana Life March North will be taking place in Shreveport, with that march beginning at Bossier City's Louisiana Boardwalk at 10 a.m. and culminating at Shreveport's Festival Plaza.

Next Saturday, Jan. 30, the inaugural Louisiana Life March Central will be held in Alexandria. That march begins at 10 a.m. at Louisiana College in Pineville and concludes at the Alexandria Amphitheatre.

More information on each march can be found at lalifemarch.com.
