Concrete Poured at Planned Parenthood Site

Concrete is being poured today at the Planned Parenthood construction site on Claiborne Avenue in New Orleans, nearly a month after site work resumed. The project had lain dormant since last summer due to a lack of contractors willing to do the work.

Concrete is being poured today at the construction site.

The concrete is being poured by Absolute Concrete Solutions of New Orleans.

Planned Parenthood said there is an "unmet need" of 2,844 abortions a year in the New Orleans area, according to its Facility Needs Review application submitted to the state. But the state did not agree and that application was rejected earlier this year by the state Department of Health and Hospitals. Planned Parenthood is currently appealing that decision, which denied it an outpatient abortion facility license.

Planned Parenthood has vowed the facility will open.

"This (concrete) will be the foundation for a building strategically designed to stop the heartbeats of 2,844 babies every year in our city," said Louisiana Right to Life Executive Director Benjamin Clapper. "We are saddened today since the concrete is one more step toward more abortions in New Orleans.

"Even though the concrete is being poured, our job is not over. We will continue educating our city about who Planned Parenthood really is, a profit-focused abortion business."
