GAO Report Confirms that Landrieu's Vote Led to Federally Funding of Healthcare Plans That Cover Abortion
BATON ROUGE, La. - Benjamin Clapper, Executive Director of Louisiana Right to Life, said the following today after a GAO report confirmed that elective abortion coverage is widespread in Obamacare exchange plans:
"Votes have consequences. Senator Landrieu had the opportunity to put a clear line between abortion and taxpayer dollars. Instead, her vote on December 8th 2009 has led to the massive taxpayer funding of health care plans that subsidize abortion-on-demand. We urged Senator Landrieu at the time to support the bipartisan Nelson Amendment, but she chose otherwise. We are again disappointed that our Senior U.S. Senator's vote opened the door to the government funding of healthcare plans that cover abortion."
