UPDATE: Planned Parenthood Must Pay $4.3 Million, Not Just $1.4 Million
Louisiana Right to Life Calls on Governor Jindal to Freeze PPGC Medicaid Payments
New Orleans, LA: Today, the Houston Chronicle reported on a finalized settlement between Texas, the U.S. Department of Justice, Karen Reynolds, and Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast in the Medicaid fraud whistleblower suit.  Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast must now pay $4.3 million, as opposed to the $1.4 million reported last week by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbot.

Benjamin Clapper, Executive Director of Louisiana Right to Life, and Dorinda C. Bordlee of Bioethics Defense Fund, the architect of SCR 57 by Sen. Danny Martiny and HR 105 by Rep. Frank Hoffmann, made the following statement after the update settlement was released:

"Today's revelation that Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast must repay $4.3 million to the Federal Government further confirms the need for Louisiana to freeze medicaid payments to Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast pending a thorough investigation as urged by the legislature in SCR 57 and HR 105.

Louisiana does not need a company with a history of fraud and abuse setting up a regional abortion center in New Orleans in the name of "women's health". Louisiana should take action now to ensure our taxpayers are protected."

Louisiana Right to Life, established in 1970, works through education, legislation, activism, and service to restore the right to life in Louisiana by opposing abortion, euthanasia, and other life destroying actions.
