Legislative Session Begins with SB 90 Tomorrow
Also, Planned Parenthood Demolition Update and Awareness Week Information Below

Greetings!

Protecting Life at the Capitol Image
As we begin the 2013 State Legislative session, we are watching the case trying abortionist Kermit Gosnell for the murder of at least seven babies born alive at a Philadelphia abortion facility. He is also being tried for the death of one prospective mother, Karnamay
a Mongar.

As you may have noticed, the media has not done its job to cover the Gosnell case.  Many thanks to Congressman Steve Scalise (LA) for spearheading an effort in Congress to encourage major media networks to cover the horrible crimes of Kermit Gosnell.

Although Gosnell did not work at Planned Parenthood, the atrocities that took place at his clinic are not all that different from those that take place at abortion facilities across our nation.  Ann Furedi, the Chief Executive of the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, said once, "There is nothing magical about passing through the birth canal that transforms it from a fetus into a person."   If our nation is appalled at the crimes of Gosnell, they should be alarmed by what happens everyday with abortion.

During our state legislative session, which is an abbreviated "fiscal" session, Louisiana Right to Life is responding to the Gosnell case by pushing legislation to protect women and unborn babies by placing additional requirements on the abortion industry.
  • SB 90: Authored by Senator Fred Mills (R - Parks)
    • SB 90 would give the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals the authority to shut down an abortion facility which employs a person who is not board certified OB/GYN physician to perform abortions.
    • SB 90 would also ban the dangerous practice of tele-medicine abortions, in which women are prescribed abortion-inducing medications via teleconference even though  the abortionist is not physically present with the woman.
  •   HB 287: Authored by Representative Valarie Hodges (R - Baton Rouge)
    • HB 287 defines "forced abortion of a minor" as child abuse and allows the State of Louisiana to intervene when a minor child is being forced against their will to have an abortion.  This is a response to recent cases in Louisiana of parents attempting to force their child to have an abortion against her will.
Contact Senators and ask them to vote yes on SB 90!
Tomorrow morning, SB 90 will be under consideration in the Senate Health and Welfare Committee
Thank you very much for your support, and we look forward to bringing you many positive updates as we continue to carry our bills through the legislature!

Planned Parenthood Closer to Abortion on Claiborne Avenue

Demolition Complete and Site Prep Has Begun for New Planned Parenthood Facility

Demolition
Demolition at PP Property.
Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast has completed demolition on the blighted buildings at 4636 S. Claiborne Ave and has begun site prep for their New Orleans facility scheduled to open in 2014.

As we have shared before, we anticipate that this facility will become a regional facility and increase the number of abortions in New Orleans.

As the facts show, more Planned Parenthood (PP) equals more abortion. PP is the largest abortion business in America.  New Orleans needs more peace, not more abortion.  Sign the declaration at NolaNeedsPeace.com, and stand with us for a peaceful New Orleans!
