                  | | 2015 January Term Celebration On February 2, the first day of Spring Prolog Week, the WTS community came together to celebrate the variety of activities students had participated in during January Term. Students set up displays and participated in group discussions and gave presentations in order to share what they had experienced during J-Term. Chapel was led by a J-Term group that day, and in the evening, a carnival and potluck were enjoyed.
Second Year student, Mike HarriSon, who spent J-Term at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, says of the Prolog Week J-Term Celebration, "I think gathering after J-term is important to help us share our experiences with the community.  Sometimes it's just informative to our classmates so they can have an idea what the different J-terms are like. It helps them decide what they want to do next J-term. More importantly, it gives us an opportunity to share our experiences. Some of these experiences are life-changing and very emotional.  The presentations given by all the participants are informative and often very moving."     Claire Ackley, a First Year student, shares, "After my J-Term in Guyana, South America, I needed time on my own to process my experience, and I also needed to reflect with the rest of my J-Term group by exchanging details of our individual experiences. However, the time I spent verbalizing my trip to my peers who had not been to Guyana - both in my small group and as a presenter to Wartburg as a whole - was a crucial step in my ability to get the most of my J-Term experience.  I also loved hearing about everyone else's experiences; it was great for helping me decide what trips I may want to take for future J-Terms."

 | Distance Learning Students on Campus for Prolog Week Sixteen Distributed Learning (DL) students were on campus the first week in February for Spring Prolog Week. Jason Poole, a DL student in Wartburg's Master of Arts in Diaconal Ministry program, says of the chance to be on campus for Prolog Week, "For me, being on campus is truly like coming home. I have felt welcomed by every student, staff and faculty I have encountered. I feel like the Wartburg community goes out of its way to ensure DL students are felt as part of the family and while we don't see everyone everyday, when we are on campus it makes it that much more special." M.Div. student, Brian Hornbecker, who is also in the Distributed Learning program, agrees, "As a DL student, I really enjoy anytime that I have an opportunity to come to campus, but I especially love being here for prolog week because it's the one time each semester that everyone is here and we get the chance to interact with the full Wartburg community. The prolog weeks are really quite rejuvenating and give me a lot of energy for the semester to come."

   Luther Academy of the Rockies
June 22 - July 2, 2015 We invite you to join us in the beautiful Colorado mountains for Luther Academy of the Rockies, Wartburg Theological Seminary's premier Learning for Life educational program for rostered leaders and their families. WTS alum, Tara Ulrich, who has participated in this event in the past, says,  "This will be my fifth summer attending Luther Academy of the Rockies (LAR). I keep coming back every year because it is one of the best continuing education events I have ever attended. It also is a time and place that totally restores my soul. Luther Academy of the Rockies is very much family-orientated. I also always appreciate the topics and speakers for LAR. They have diverse presenters that know their topics extremely well. I always appreciate the conversations that take place during our class time. It also is a delight to spend time with old friends and meet new friends. And the added bonus is that LAR takes place in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. I am already counting down the months until I get to attend."  Learn more or register today.
