Rev. Dr. Ralph Smith Remembered During three weeks in November 2014, the Wartburg Seminary community remembered the Rev. Dr. Ralph Smith, former Dean of the Chapel, by singing many of the hymns Ralph wrote, as well as sharing memories of Ralph or moments of inspiration connected to Ralph and his work. The following is an edited collection of thoughts shared during this time honoring Ralph and remembering him on the twenty-year anniversary of his death, following a tragic automobile accident. Come to the Castle
This fall, Wartburg Seminary, together with the Tri-State Forum, sponsored a new continuing education program for clergy and congregational members. Known as "Come to the Castle," the program included adult Bible study sessions for individuals from congregations that were led by final-year WTS students. Clergy accompanied their congregational members and participated in sessions that included lectionary study of texts for upcoming seasons led by members of the WTS faculty.      Ron Kaiser, a congregational member who participated in this fall's Come to the Castle events, said, "I enjoy coming to the Come to the Castle events to study parts of the Bible that are in relationship to our lives today. I have come to several of these events because I find them interesting. It gives me the opportunity to meet other people and relate to them through scripture. I gain a new perspective by learning scripture from others. It allows me to better myself by challenging my thoughts at a much deeper level." This spring, Come to the Castle will be offered three additional times: January 30, March 20, and May 8. The March 20 event, will be a special Come to the Castle with Bishop Elizabeth Eaton as our presenter. Please click here to learn more about spring Come to the Castle or to register for any or all of the three sessions.
