 ALISHA'S ANALYSIS : EPISODES 5 & 6 Episode six finds us finally crossing into the New Testament to a heavily re-interpreted introduction to Mary and Joseph, the parents of Jesus. I'll spare you my constructive criticism of the myriad artistic liberties, saying only that I wish the Christmas story would have kept closer to the original. There was no mention of shepherds in the field or angel announcements. But the moments of Jesus' birth in that lowly stable?... breathtaking. My compliments to the writers of this scene. But for our first year our preacher was Gordon MacDonald, one of the best in the business. And the first sermon he ever preached was on "Amazing Grace" and the story of John Newton that I had never heard before, one of the reasons why it was such a blessing to work on [the film] Amazing Grace."
