More Than Meets the Eye  Elisabeth Leitch
This is a movie that begins by asking the question: What if one pill could change everything? It is also a movie that ends by challenging us to consider what the forces really are that have the power to change who we are and the lives we lead for the better or for the terribly, terribly worse.

     The Last Stand
   Telegraphing It In   Pastor Dice
Schwartzie is back. Are we thrilled? Well, this is kind of no-harm, no-foul entertainment. It's not high art, but it's not pure trash, either. And you know what? Arnold's foray into politics has actually helped him learn how to act! Sort of.

     The Oscar-Nominated Shorts
   Documentaries  Darrel Manson
Docs almost always have a dark side to them, and that is true of these Oscar-nominated shorts as well. Most, however, also have a strong presence of hope. That is certainly the case with my favorite of the bunch, Inocente..

News About What's in the Works for Film and Faith Managing Editor Greg Wright
Dogg Goes Rasta     I get some pretty "out there" press releases from time to time. This one really threw me for a loop.
The subject line was:  VICE & Snoop Lion's New Film REINCARNATED in Theaters March 15th   My thought? "Who on earth thought it was good idea to cop Snoop Dogg's moniker? Snoop LION? How stupid." I guess I was just behind the times.   "Snoop Lion" is Snoop Dogg.   And then I jumped to... "and this press release is being sent to a 'faith and family' editor because... ????"   So get this: the press release is serious. Dogg is reinventing himself as a spiritual man. Now... is Rastafarianism Christian? I don't think even the Rasta claim that. Rastafari believe that Jesus was reincarnated as Haile Salassie, former Emperor of Ethiopia, and pot smoking features heavily in their religious rituals. But put all that aside for the moment. Let's ask another question. Watch the trailer below, and read the press release that follows. Then ask yourself: Do you buy the new Snoop? Does the cynic inside you cry, "Publicity stunt!" or do you think maybe Snoop is on a path toward God? Could he be the next decade's Cornelius?

   Adam and Dog     Darrel Manson
I recently had the opportunity to speak by phone with Minkyu Lee, the director of Adam and Dog, one of the animated short films nominated for the Oscar. I found the film to be a very interesting look at the Eden story, since it is done from the first dog's point of view.

     Home Video Roundup
Alex Cross, Anger Management, Animaniacs, and Lots More HJ Staff

Now on Home Video. Here Comes the Boom is yet another film in the Adam Sandler factory of crude humor. None of them has outdone Billy Madison or Happy Gilmore. But somehow in the midst of too many plots, crazy stunts, and humor you're not sure if you should laugh at, there is a sense of grace and redemption.
