Django Unchained
Maurice Broaddus
Do not delude yourself into thinking that the pain isn't more fresh that you'd like to believe, no matter how post-racial the age you think we're in. This is why Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, while every bit a spaghetti western, feels like an empowerment vehicle, capturing a zeitgeist people are too blind to acknowledge.

News About What's in the Works for Film and Faith Managing Editor Greg Wright
Les Miserables In a CNN Belief blog article this week, Editor Eric Marripodi documents the efforts of NBC/Universal to pitch their filmed adaptation of the Broadway musical Les Mis to the faith audience. A primary source of the information in the article was Jonathan Bock, the founder of the PR firm, Grace Hill Media, that conducted the faith-market campaign.
In comments on the blog, a good number of readers were put off by the words Bock used to describe opinion-makers in the market. "We were targeting specifically people who had a bully pulpit," Bock said. Grace Hill's goal, continued Marripodi "was to draw Christians who would 'be impacted by it and then tell anywhere from hundreds to hundreds of thousands of people what they just saw.'" The term "bully pulpit" has actually been in use for over a hundred years, and was coined by Teddy Roosevelt when he was President. The idea is that a person can be in a "fabulous position" (hence "bully" "pulpit") to advance a cause.

Special Coverage of The Hobbit from Editor Mark Sommer

As much as I wanted to just sit back and enjoy the movie, I had a hard time removing the critic's hat. Watching it without the 3D distractions was helpful, but it didn't take away what I found most disturbing about the film.
Mr Jackson, could I have a word in your ear? It's about etiquette. I don't know where your dwarves were brought up, but I would have thought the least they could have done when they arrived at Bilbo's house in your film was to ask for their favorite food, as Professor Tolkien expected them to do. |

Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up... Nate Watts
Now on Blu-ray. Since body disposal has become near impossible to carry out under government radar, the crime syndicates are using the technology illegally to send mob victims back to present day to have paid assassins or "Loopers" dispose of them. Joe is a looper, and his job is "taking out the future's trash." Also... |
