     Silver Linings Playbook
Rom-com To Believe In Elizabeth Leitch
The end of Silver Linings Playbook might look like any other rom-com. But, in the end, its story and its characters are the kind that make you actually believe in happy endings and hopeful new beginnings-even if the stories that unfold in our lives aren't exactly the ones we originally set out to live.

News About What's in the Works for Film and Faith Managing Editor Greg Wright
Sherwood Pictures              Since the post-production phase of Facing the Giants, Sherwood Pictures has enjoyed an unbelievably profitable alliance with Provident, a division of Sony's motion picture property. While negotiating music rights for the film with Provident, Sherwood's production team screened a rough cut of Giants... and the rest, as they say, is history.
Provident Music took the film to their corporate ownership and a brilliant alliance was formed. Finishing funds were procured to polish the Kendricks' little faith-and-football film, and the investment returned a handsome dividend for Sony. Fireproof followed... and we all know how that turned out. Then Courageous. Ka-ching! And the films retained their Gospel integrity as well. Win-win, right?   Well, the corporate behemoth is now facing its own giant challenges. As just reported at CNN Money, "Fitch Ratings downgraded Sony and Panasonic debt to junk status Thursday and said the ailing Japan-based consumer electronic makers both needed radical restructuring to improve their prospects..."

Can't get enough of Howard Shore's themes from The Lord of the Rings? Or just like to listen to some easy listening music once in awhile? This video from The Piano Guys is for you. This is the first in a series of articles planned for each Thursday, to continue as long as needed. This week: Tolkien's grandson and great-grandson speak, lawsuit against Warner Bros., the animal safety controversy, and more. The Thanksgiving episode of Happy Hobbit from TheOneRing.net has arrived. Click through to view. Whenever Boyens speaks about Jackson's Middle-earth franchise, my ears perk up. What she has to say is probably more important that what Fran Walsh, or even Jackson himself, has to say. At least that's how I view it. The Lord of the Rings Project began as "an attempt to place every character in J.R.R Tolkien's fictional universe in a family tree." The website has also evolved to include an interactive timeline of events. A great site for those with a geeky interest in Tolkien's world. Waikato University in New Zealand, in collaboration with Ryerson University of Toronto, Canada, is conducting an extensive online survey concerning audience expectations regarding The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Click through to find out how to participate. Freeman on why the story deserves three films: "I just know that their reasons for it are artistic. God knows, they don't need more money, unless they want to buy the moon, but artistically they want room and space for it to breathe and to tell the story as well as they can."

Gottfried Helnwein and the Dreaming Child
   Disturbing Art  Darrel Manson
Helnwein's vision of how to visually present this opera has created a world that many may find hard to look at. I expect that is exactly his goal. It should be hard to look at the way children are so easily discarded or forgotten..
