Sinister
Seriously? JLD
Ellison is secretly moving his family into the home of an unexplained (and fresh) quadruple homicide... quite possibly the most brazen and just plain stupid thing a character has ever done in a horror film, which convincingly enough sells his desperation.

Argo
Believe the Hype Dice
You've probably heard the buzz about this one... and it's justified. Yes, there are some slow stretches, but this is solid storytelling. It also incorporates a movie-in-movie subplot that really works. This is Ben Affleck's third home run in a row, and here he's even directing himself.

News About What's in the Works for Film and Faith Managing Editor Greg Wright
The Centurion The Hollywood Reporter ran the news this month that ABC Studios and CBS will be doing a rare cross-network development deal on a new "faith-based" cop drama. Scripts are in development, and nothing has been announced regarding casting or dates for a pilot or premiere.
According to the Reporter, CBS is getting into the faith business. The network has given script orders to The Centurion, a high-concept drama about faith and responsibility from Immortals feature scribes Charley and Vlas Parlapanides... The drama centers on an elite force recon Marine who, after a near-fatal accident in combat overseas, makes a promise to God to clear the debt of the lives he's taken if he safely returns home to his family. Once he does return home, he settles back into his former career as a police detective to make good on his promise, guided by the angel of his best friend, who died in the accident.
The article notes that "Revenge consulting producer Bob Sertner and Fast & Furious scribe Chris Morgan also on board to produce. Hmm... cops and soldiers and angels. Kind of like "Touched by a Cop?" Could be intriguing. But the names attached don't exactly scream "faith market" to me.
Also from The Pipeline: 3 Day Test
"With 3 DAY TEST, we mark our third consecutive year at the Heartland Film Festival," Bernsen said. "I'm excited not only to premiere this film at Heartland but also to participate in the festival as a judge and encourage other filmmakers."

Andy Serkis revealed to E! Hollywood that the voice we heard from Gollum in the Lord of the Rings series is his actual voice. "I had a speech impediment when I was a kid that was very rare. Doctors said that the scary raspy voice was caused by an accident involving Tab cola and singing Whitesnake at the top of my lungs." Andy admitted that the voice you hear at interviews and on the street took him years to master. He used to spend hours listening to Dick Clark and Johnny Carson to learn how to speak like a normal human. "It was horrible going through school. Kids used to call me Yoda and Troll Boy. It was horrible because I also liked to use the word 'we' a lot to refer to my imaginary friend Bucky in my conversations." It wasn't until Andy was in his late twenties that the movie industry tried to capitalize on his voice. He was auditioned for the part of Stitch in the movie Lilo and Stitch.
