BOATING UNITED ACTION ALERT: Protect Your Boat, Ask Congress to Fix the Renewable Fuel Standard

July 1, 2015

Background:

The EPA has plans to increase the country's ethanol mandate to historic levels. If implemented, this will increase the likelihood that dangerous fuels like E15 will be coming to a fuel pump near you- a fuel that can and will destroy marine engines. The EPA has opened a public comment period, closing on July 27, it is imperative that the boating industry speaks up against their plan to ensure safe fuel remains available for all consumers.

Last week, the EPA held the only public forum on its proposal to raise the ethanol levels in our fuel supply. It was held in the heart of corn country, and no surprise it was decidedly a one-sided debate.

Your DPBA's question, why was a hearing not held in a large Recreational Boating State like California, Florida, Michigan, Texas?  Once again, our government, in this case (EPA), not representing ALL Americans, especially Recreational Boaters; not just Corn Growers.  Unfortunately, just one public hearing, held in one privileged area supported by Corn Growers, their sponsors with highly paid lobbyist.  Our Legislators need to wake up and understand all the damage that is being caused by Ethanol, at it's current levels, to Recreational Boating.

Of the more than 250 testifying participants, all but a dozen were for increasing the amount of ethanol - even beyond the EPA's proposal!

Our voices will be drowned out if we don't take action. We need you to join our effort and contact the EPA. Tell them to protect boating and decrease the amount of ethanol in our fuel supply.

2,000 people in the boating industry have already commented through our link. Will you join them and make this a fair debate?

The RFS is broken, yet the government ignores all science and analysis and continues to threaten our Recreational Boating Community. We need Congress to correct course and fix this law.

Please help us stop all this insanity, contact your Legislators to STOP the RFP by clicking HERE
