Greetings!

We hope everyone enjoyed the fun as much as the very hard working, enthusiastic and creative 70+ skippers, boats and crews who participated in the four nights of this year's holiday boat parades.  We sure did!

This year was a truly amazing show, and participation and attendance broke all records.  Below is the 2014 Dana Point Boaters Association award winner and recipient of our cash prize, the J Serra Sailing Club.  Our award is for the boat displaying the most spirit and it's always hard to pick a single winner.  That said, we hasten to add that this picture doesn't come close to giving justice to the J Serra Sailing Club entry!  (Think lights, costumes, music, singing, dancing and most of all enthusiasm!)

This was the 40th annual DPH Boat Parade of Lights and DPBA's seventh year as a judging sponsor.  When combined with the absolutely fantastic IlluminOcean light display (to learn more click here,  here and here) Dana Point Harbor has been a very, very special place for boaters and their families this holiday season.

Speaking of IlliminOcean, this is the first year of what we hope will become an annual Dana Point Harbor tradition.  Our thanks to the area's four premier resort hotels who acted as project sponsors.

By the way, there's still time to visit, and our crisp and sparkling evenings lately will make it even more fun.  But hurry, the lights will only be on until 10 PM on January 4th.

Happy holidays,
Rodger Beard, President, Dana Point Boaters Association

Mission Statement:
The Dana Point Boaters Association advocates the preservation, enhancement, and expansion of affordable recreational boating resources.  We work to improve the family friendly atmosphere and breadth of water-oriented actives we all enjoy in the harbor.  We serve as the watchdog by ethically protecting the rights of all boaters and representing them when collective action is most effective.  We actively gather information and communicate our views to educate boaters, external interests, and public officials.  We build and maintain constructive, working relationships to achieve common goals with other harbor stakeholders.  We will pass on our harbor to the next generation of recreational boaters in better condition than it is today.
