HAZARD TO NAVIGATION_____________________________
Your DPBA has contacted Brad Gross, Director, Dana Point Harbor, and Sgt. Mike Scalise, Dana Point Harbor Patrol, concerning the following occurrence:
WARNING: The shoal along the breakwater in the west basin has grown significantly since last season, extending well beyond the shoal buoy markers. Recently several boaters have grounded to the southeast of the sand bar. DPBA has urged Orange County Dana Point Harbor and the Harbor Patrol to either adjust the existing shoal buoys, or add additional buoys to accurately mark the shoal. We understand that this will be corrected soon. In the meantime, boaters are advised to exercise caution in the vicinity of the west basin sand bar. BTW, Timeshaver during DPYC's beer can race last Thursday evening. OC Dana Point Harbor has also put out an announcement warning of the extended shoal.
Just released, OC Dana Point Harbor & Dana Point Harbor Patrol have just placed these new buoys in the sand bar locations!
