2012 DANA POINT HARBOR BOAT PARADE
2012 DPH Boat Parade (shot from bluff)
What a wonderful Boat Parade we had this year at Dana Point Harbor!  Yes, the "Hollywood Spirit" was very much in evidence as over 50 different boats received awards.

Click here to see all the award winners, courtesy of Michael Abbinante.

Speaking of spirit, below is DPBA's 5th annual award for the boat of any size displaying the Most Spirit.  Did we say "boat"?  Make that a fleet totaling 10 boats in all!  This Hollywood train on the water began with a tow boat skippered by DPYC member Gary MacGleverty.  Then there were a total of 8 decorated 8' Sabot sailboats, each skippered by a brave, and no doubt cold, Dana Point Yacht Club Junior Sailor.  The DPYC whaler followed acting as the safety boat and "caboose".

2012 DPH Boat Parade (Most Spirit Award)

DPBA congratulates the 2012 award winners, the DPYC Junior Sailing Foundation!  A commemorative plaque and check for $250 dollars was presented by DPBA IT Officer Steve Carpenter and DPBA follower and President Rodger Beard, during the 2012 Dana Point Harbor Boat Parade Awards Breakfast held again this year on December 16th at Harpoon Henry's.

Mission Statement:
The Dana Point Boaters Association advocates the preservation, enhancement, and expansion of affordable recreational boating resources.  We work to improve the family friendly atmosphere and breadth of water-oriented actives we all enjoy in the harbor.  We serve as the watchdog by ethically protecting the rights of all boaters and representing them when collective action is most effective.  We actively gather information and communicate our views to educate boaters, external interests, and public officials.  We build and maintain constructive, working relationships to achieve common goals with other harbor stakeholders.  We will pass on our harbor to the next generation of recreational boaters in better condition than it is today.
