Birth To Three By the Numbers
10,122! That's how many parents and children used Birth To Three in 2011-12 to learn, bond, nurture, play and grow.
Our parenting education groups:
- reduce stress in the family and between parents
- reduce the potential for child abuse and neglect
- increase the sense of parental competency
- improve school readiness
...and help us fulfill our mission that all children will be raised by nurturing, skilled parents. |

Greetings!
Birth To Three is here for parents - lots of them! This annual report will help you learn what we've been doing in the past year.
I am also excited to bring you big news about our organization: We are updating our name to Parenting Now! We remain the organization you know and value, with a strong commitment to supporting parents in the earliest years of their child's life. Our new name is a better reflection of the programs we already offer, including groups for families with children up to age 8.
To learn more about our name change and other news, please visit our new website.
Thank you for being part of Birth To Three and Parenting Now!

"Birth To Infinity" Group has become Extended Family
Parents in a Birth To Three group that began meeting 20 years ago have seen their children grow from infants to young adults.
"We thought that if we had Birth To Three, it would be good, that we

would pick up new parenting skills," recalls Dennis McGrath, one of the parents in the original Incredible INFANTs group. "We never dreamed it would lead us to where we are today: one big extended family."
Read their story and see more photos and comments from group members!

Many families stay connected after their Birth To Three groups end. For example, we've heard about a "Birth To 30" group and a "Birth To Death" group!
If your group still meets, please let us know your year and program, who is in your group, and any fun facts or stories you want to share. Photos are welcome, too! |

Hooray for Our Incredible Volunteers!
Dennis McGrath, one of the parents in the Birth To Infinity group featured above, is also part of the Eugene Water and Electric Board group that volunteers here during United Way of Lane County's "Day of Caring."
The participants belong to our valued volunteer team and make an enormous difference to Birth To Three and the families we serve. Here are the numbers on the amount of help our volunteers provided in 2011-12:
Number of volunteers - 162
Hours volunteered - 3,545
Equivalent value of their service - $77,246
Thank you, volunteers! |
Our United Way Funding Helps Us
Reach Area Promise Neighborhoods
United Way of Lane County's Promise Neighborhood program is helping vulnerable area families get their children off to a good start, and Birth To Three is doing its part!
In the first year of the program, our parent educators provided three groups in Eugene and Springfield Promise Neighborhoods.
One participant, Natasha (pictured with her son), said, "I joined the group for my benefit and for my son. I want to be a better parent."
Birth To Three is continuing to work with families in the Promise Neighborhoods. |
