FDA Approves Brain-Wave Test for ADHD
neba

The FDA has just given its stamp of approval to an EEG brain-wave test that provides health care practitioners with a scientific basis for evaluating attention disorders. The EEG test measures brain-wave activity and produces objective data to help more accurately diagnose ADHD. Traditional methods for ADHD diagnosis include behavior rating scales and teacher/caregiver interviews.

Brain-wave testing is at the foundation of the BrainCore system. It helps identify abnormal brain-wave patterns that underlie conditions like ADHD. EEG test data is used to create a unique BrainCore neurofeedback therapy program to retrain abnormal waves and create new healthy ones that help resolve attention and behavioral issues. Runner's Knee Healed Through Chiro Care
Runner's Knee -- chiropractic care

Does climbing, walking or jogging cause knee pain? You don't have to be a triathlete to have Runner's Knee.

This painful condition occurs when the kneecap becomes misaligned and rubs on the bones underneath instead of on the protective cartilage. Oftentimes, we find the source to be either above or below the knee, such as in the hip or ankle.

While the R.I.C.E. (rest, ice, compression, elevation) method can provide temporary pain relief, Runner's Knee will not heal on its own. If you are experiencing knee pain for more than 72 hours, call us for a chiropractic evaluation. We can help pinpoint the source of your pain and develop a therapy and rehabilitative exercise plan to help you resume your active lifestyle as quickly as possible.

U.S. Hospitals Report: Pediatric Chronic Pain Admissions Jump 831%
summer sun

A study in July 2013 issue of Pediatrics reveals an 831% increase in the number of pediatric patients admitted to U.S. hospitals with chronic pain from 2004 to 2010. According to the study, the average patient was a 14-year-old caucasian female. Complaints included headaches, abdominal and musculoskeletal pain, and depression and anxiety.

Occasional anxiety is a normal part of childhood, but when it interferes with everyday living or triggers physical pain or depression it's time to seek professional advice. Psychotherapy and neurofeedback therapy are effective non-drug options that can help children overcome anxiety and depression.

If your child is experiencing any of the above-mentioned symptoms, contact our office. Our licensed clinical social workers Stacey Spata and Danielle Tanzi specialize in psychotherapy and can help your child develop healthy coping mechanisms that strengthen and enrich his/her life.

Epilepsy and Pregnancy: What's Best for Baby?

A recent Norwegian study of 333 children revealed that those whose mothers had taken anti-seizure medication during pregnancy exhibited autistic traits as well as delays in gross motor development, language and social skills.

While it is important to maintain seizure control during pregnancy, it is also to imperative to protect the developing baby's brain. Neurofeedback training is an effective therapy option for pregnant women with epilepsy and other neurological disorders such as ADHD who need a non-drug, non-invasive means to control their condition.

Monsanto's Roundup Linked to Alzheimer's
Glyphosate

A recent review of hundreds of scientific studies involving the herbicide glyphosate, found in Monsanto's Roundup weed killer, sheds new light on the link between the herbicide and debilitating diseases including gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
