Leading Long Island Chiropractors Form Neurofeedback Consortium
We are excited to announce our collaboration with "BrainCore of New York," a newly-formed consortium of five chiropractic wellness practices whose mission is to promote awareness of and deliver holistic, non-drug, cutting-edge neurofeedback therapy to the Long Island and metropolitan areas. Visit the BrainCore of New York website to learn more about our colleagues.
To kick off our new venture, we are offering a Summer Special: 10% off the entire BrainCore program to all those who pay in full. The summer months are a great time to retrain abnormal brain-wave patterns that trigger neurological symptoms like ADHD and get your child ready for the rigors of the upcoming academic year.
Keep posted for announcements in the coming months for lectures, webinars and other educational events from the group.

You Are What You Eat
Taking A Closer Look At Diet
Recent events on the GMO front underscore the need to know exactly what we are getting in the foods we buy. According to the Grocery Manufacturers Association, an estimated 75-80% of processed foods on supermarket shelves such as cereals, cookies and crackers contain GMOs.
Unlike the European Union, genetically engineered (GE) food labeling is not mandated in the U.S. Without a label on foods containing GE ingredients, the only way for consumers to avoid biotech foods is to buy organic.
Purchasing a share in a local community supported agriculture (CSA) like the Golden Earthworm here on Long Island is a great way to not only ensure you're eating fresh, toxin-free produce grown in a sustainable manner, but also to support your local farmer and the local economy. (Click here for a directory of LI farmers' markets and CSAs)
Consumers are now also able to get more information on the grocery store foods they purchase thanks to new food traceability smart phone apps that provide real time information on where and how the foods were grown, harvest dates and farm ownership, as well as any recall alerts.

Little Known GMO Biotech Rider Puts Public Health At Risk
Congress quietly approved a last minute provision to an unrelated spending bill that protects Monsanto and its genetically modified (GM) seeds from prosecution in the event that one of it products is found to be hazardous to the public health or environment.
Most GMO food grown in the U.S. is "Roundup Ready," enabling it to withstand Monsanto's herbicide spray. These biotech crops can pose serious risks to farmers, health, animals and the environment. Food allergies, organ toxicity and other health issues have been linked to GMO products.
The "Monsanto Protection Act" enables GMO crops to evade scientific or judicial review and prohibits federal courts from immediately halting the planting and sale of GMO seeds while environmental impact assessments are underway.
In a social media propelled protest echoing Occupy Wall Street, thousands of concerned citizens have joined together in more than 400 cities throughout the world to "March Against Monsanto." Food advocacy groups are lobbying to have the act repealed.
