WiFi Service Available at the Library
 

Waterford residents and visitors to the Library can access the Internet directly through their wireless-enabled mobile devices? The Library's wireless-powered "Public Internet Access" allows you to connect quickly and easily to the Internet anywhere within the Library at no charge. The service supports a wide variety of mobile devices including laptops, tablets, e-readers and smartphones. 


The "Public Internet Access" service provides a way to access the same Internet resources available from our Public Internet, Database and Online Catalog computers from the convenience of your own mobile device. This service also allows you to connect to Internet resources that may not be accessible through the Library's computers. You can also download and upload data and files directly to and from your mobile device. Please take advantage of quick and easy access to the Internet the next time you visit the Waterford Township Public Library.

Speaking Skills for Poets and Writers

Participants will learn how the best poets and writers prepare for readings, including a few secrets for keeping calm and staying focused. Each should bring a 3-4 line "bio" of how they would like to be introduced at a speaking event and a short poem (nor more than 15 lines) or a single paragraph from a story or essay they are writing. All will have an opportunity to practice.

David Dieterle is Chief Academic Officer of the Cygnet Institute, President and Chief Academic Officer for the Michigan Council on Economic Education (MCEE), a highly- respected resource for the economic education of adults, teachers and students throughout the State of Michigan. He is an Adjunct Professor in Economics and Finance Department at Walsh College.

Please signup for only 1 of the sessions on this date. 
Meets on the fourth Saturday of the month. Create your own Lego structure.  These will be displayed in the Library until the next meeting, then children can make new structures.  We have two class times in the morning for each day.  Registration opens on Saturday, March 21.

Our drop-in storytimes return this January.  Because of the public school holidays, storytime is divided into three sessions, with a one-week break between each session: 

Session II    6 weeks ending the week of March 31/April 1.

Session III   3 weeks beginning the week of April 14-16, ending the week of April 28-30.

Storytimes for children 3 years of age and younger are 30 minutes long and include a variety of stories, songs, fingerplays, and other activities.  Storytimes are held in our children's story and craft room.  Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.  We ask that parents and caregivers arrive at least 5 minutes before storytime begins in order to get settled in. 

Make & Take Crafts: Spring and Easter
Saturday, March 21, 11:00a-Noon. Recommended for ages 5 & Up
Celebrate Spring and Easter with a variety of seasonal and holiday crafts. Drop in this month and make something fun from 10:00am-12:00pm. No registration required.

The display of Lucky Reads created by Adults' Librarian Andrea is next to the Circulation desk near the entrance to the Adults' Department.  Pick out a book from the display, check it out, and don't unwrap it until you get home.  If your choice turns out to be an unlucky match for you, all you have to do is return it to the library!

Waterford Expo

Join us at this community event. Exhibitors include local businesses, community groups, township departments, artists and the school district. It's an evening of fun packed with information, giveaways and door prizes. Free admission tickets available at the Library.

Friends of the Waterford Library
These programs and this newsletter are sponsored by the Friends of the Library. The Friends hold  used book sales throughout the year. These are included in the online Calendar of Events on the Library's website.  To replenish stock for the sales the Friends conduct a used book donation drop-off on the second Saturday of each month from 10:00a-1:00p in the Community Room.
