Dollars for College
Develop your strategy
For many students and their parents funding a college education can be daunting. The Library has many resources, both print and online, to help you find scholarships and grants to cover some or all of the costs of getting a college degree.
In addition, we offer a 3-part program that will help you navigate the requirements to succeed in getting financial aid. Sheryl E. Krasnow, from College and Career Counseling Associates, advises parents and students in a series of seminars.
This month we host the 2nd of the 3 seminars in this series. "Dollars for College" covers the ins and outs of financial aid including definitions, college costs, and how the financial aid package is determined.
The program will take place on Thursday, November 14th from 7:00p - 8:30p in the Library's Community Room. To attend please register online through the Calendar of Events on the Library's website or contact the Adults' Reference Desk, 248-618-7693.

Waterford Township Library awarded Muslim Journeys Bookshelf collection from NEH, ALA
Earlier this year, our library, through a successful grant application, was one of 840 libraries and state humanities councils across the country selected to receive the Bridging Cultures Bookshelf called "Muslim Journeys" from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the American Library Association (ALA).
The program aims to familiarize public audiences in the United States with the people, places, history, faith and cultures of Muslims in the United States and around the world. The Muslim Journeys Bookshelf includes 25 books and 3 DVDs.
The books and films comprising the Bookshelf were selected
with the advice of librarians and cultural programming experts, as well as distinguished scholars in the fields of anthropology, world history, religious studies, interfaith dialogue, the history of art and architecture, world literature, Middle East studies, Southeast Asian studies, African studies, and Islamic studies.
We invite you to check them out!
The Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys is a project of the National Endowment for the Humanities, conducted in cooperation with the American Library Association. Major support for the Muslim Journeys Bookshelf was provided by a grant from Carnegie Corporation of New York. Additional support for the arts and media components was provided by the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art.
