What could be better for the last month of the summer break than taking a favorite magazine north to the cottage, or out on the boat, or to the beach - on an eReader!

The Library now provides you with access to Zinio Digital Magazines for Libraries. These emagazines can be viewed from cover to cover online, or offline through the Zinio apps. They can be dowloaded to a PC, Mac, iPad, and some Android tablets.

Check out as many issues as you want and keep them in your account as long as you wish. There are approximately 200 popular magaines in our collection. These include La Cucina Italiana (fresh ideas for your next cookout), Field & Stream, Boating, Harper's Bazaar, Car & Driver, Woodcraft Magazine, Working Mother and several different titles on hand crafts.

News of Note

Oakland Talking Books Service
Talking Books Display
Located across from the Reference Desk in the Adult Department

Thanks to the Oakland County Talking Book Service we have a new, attractive and informative display about their program.

The Oakland County Library for the Visually and Physically Impaired (formerly located in the County Office Complex on Telegraph Road) is now Oakland Talking Book Service located at the Rochester Hills Public Library.

It is one of many regional libraries for the blind under the administration of the Michigan Bureau of Services for Blind Persons (BSBP) Braille and Talking Book Library. This state agency is, in turn, administered by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.

Over 80 Waterford residents currently make use of this free service, getting audiobooks through the mail or downloading digital audiobooks and magazines through BARD. If you know a Waterford resident who has low vision but would like to be able to read/listen to books you can pick up an application form for Oakland Talking Book Service at our Adult Reference Desk.
