1 p.m.: Little Listeners: Ages 3-5 hear songs and stories, and make a spring craft.
4 to 6 p.m: Preschool Roundup: Participating preschools will be here to provide parents with the necessary information and to answer their questions. Details are with Youth Services at (219) 931-5100, Ext. 336.

Wild Ones, a nonprofit environmental education and advocacy organization, is accepting applications from projects designed to enhance and develop an appreciation for nature using native plants.
Through the Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education Fund, grants of up to $500 will be awarded for projects that emphasize the involvement of students and volunteers in all phases. In addition, local nurseries identified by Wild Ones will supply seeds, plants, and advice to grant recipients. Examples of appropriate projects include the establishment of a native plant community in an educational setting such as an outdoor classroom, developing and maintaining an interpretive trail landscaped with native plant communities, and/or developing a wetland area to study the effect of native vegetation on water-quality improvement.
Schools, nature centers, houses of worship, and nonprofit places of learning that focus on educating elementary through high school students in the United States are eligible. The Smithsonian Latino Center, a division of the Smithsonian Institution, works to ensure that Latino contributions to art, science, and the humanities are highlighted, understood, and advanced through the development and support of public programs, scholarly research, museum collections, and educational opportunities at the Smithsonian and its affiliated organizations. The center is now accepting applications for the 2015 Young Ambassadors Program, an annual program that aims to foster the next generation of Latino leaders in the arts, sciences, and humanities.
Graduating high school seniors with an interest in and commitment to the arts, sciences, and humanities as it pertains to Latino communities and cultures are selected to travel to Washington, D.C., for a weeklong seminar at the Smithsonian. Following the week in Washington, students participate in a four-week interdisciplinary internship in museums and cultural institutions in seventeen cities across the United States and Puerto Rico.
The program includes meals and accommodations for the duration of the one-week training seminar, round-trip travel to Washington, D.C., and a program stipend following the four-week internship. For program guidelines and application instructions, visit the Smithsonian Latino Center website.
