Famous Americans Wax Museum
Coming This Friday! Everyone Is Welcome!
wax museum2 One of the highlights of the year is coming this Friday, March 8, as fifth graders present their Sixth Annual Famous Americans Wax Museum. Each fifth grader has chosen a famous American to portray and will be prepared to present a short biography of the person fully costumed "in character". The performances by the fifth graders are really incredible. Students will be "touring" the museum from 10:00 until 2:45. The museum is closed for lunch from 12:00 - 12:30. Parents are also invited to tour.
Parent Teacher Conferences March 21

On-line Scheduling for Conferences

Early Dismissal at 12:15 p.m on Conference Day

CDS will be holding Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, March 21. This will be a 1/2 day of school with early dismissal at 12:15 p.m. Lunch will not be served. All parents are encouraged to schedule a conference with your child's teacher especially if you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress. Conferences are 15 minutes in length. If a longer conference is needed, contact your child's teacher for a convenient time. Parents of middle school students do not need to schedule a conference with every teacher, just the subject area where there is a concern. Central Learning Center will provide after school care for students that afternoon.

How to Schedule a Conference

We will again use the web based appointment scheduling system from pickatime.com to coordinate the meeting times. Parents may begin scheduling conferences at pickatime.com on Friday, March 8 at 8:00 a.m. Click here to review the sign-up instructions. These may also be found on the CDS website home page.  If you need any assistance with sign-up or if you have any questions, contact Judy McLaughlin at judymclaughlin@centraldayschool.com.

We encourage parents to take time to pray about what to discuss with your child's teacher and jot a few notes before you come to the conference. The formula for student success is parents and teachers working together!
Middle Schoolers Enjoy Math Club
Sixth graders use their math skills
to enjoy a game of Tric Trac.
The Math Club began this year under the sponsorship of Mrs. Susan Walker to help promote mathematics at CDS.  The club also provides CDS Middle School students interested in math a time to enjoy math related activities and to provide enrichment to our math curriculum.

The goal of the Math Club is to challenge students by providing a fun way to develop deductive and reasoning skills as well as learn how to solve problems and gain confidence in their math ability. The Math Club is open to any middle school student and meets during lunch. This year the club has learned how to play several new games, solved logic puzzles, and enjoyed having fun with math. The Math Club has about 30 members and meets on the last Tuesday and Thursday of each month.  The first meeting had such a great turnout that the meeting time had to be divided into two days. The seventh and eighth graders meet on Tuesday, and sixth graders meet on Thursday. What a great way to improve thinking skills and have fun!
