Class Group Pictures
Deadline to Purchase Is Tomorrow, Wed., Feb. 20
A proof of your child's 2012-2013 class group picture was sent home last week. If you would like to purchase the 8 X 10 color photo, please fill out the proof envelope and return it to school with payment by Wednesday, February 20. Checks should be made payable to Holland Studio. This photo will not appear in the yearbook. If you have any questions, contact Amy Carr at amycarr@centraldayschool.com.

All you have to do is donate $1 (each RED day) to the American Heart Association so your child can wear RED on the designated RED day(s).

Coins for Cupid Contest Winner

 | | Mr. Spice announced the Cupid 2013 winner at the Valentine's Day assembly. Along with Mr. Spice are Mrs. Bowles, Mrs. Hughes, Cupid 2013, and Mrs. Asbury. |
Congratulations to middle school teacher, Mrs. Lisa Hughes, for being voted "Cupid 2013" by the student body. The Cupid Contest winner was announced at an assembly before the Valentine's parties. Mrs. Hughes and her competitors for the title, Mrs. Bowles, Mrs. Asbury and Coach Jay Foster, helped raise $325 for Ronald McDonald House. The PTF thanks to all who voted - it was great fun for a worthy cause! Students were also excited to participate in the first annual "Puppy Love Race" at the assembly. A student from each grade was selected to race battery operated dachshunds to the center court of the gym. Halle Warren, representing 6th grade, was the winner in a close race.

Use Uniform Consignment Sale
Drop-off Deadline, Friday, February 22
Gather those uniforms your kids have outgrown for the upcoming used uniform sale on February 26 and 27. You can consign, shop or both! We will begin accepting uniform items on February 19.Please remember that all clothes must meet the school uniform guidelines and be in good condition. If you have consigned in the past, you may use the same consignor id as before. If you are a new consignor, you must email Amy Carr (amycarr@centraldayschool.com) to get a consignor id and the detailed consignor information.

Discovery Workshop with Mrs. Hartelust
 This is one sweet workshop! In this workshop, students will learn about Pop artist Wayne Thiebaud who is famous for his beautiful paintings of cakes and other sweet treats. Students will use a variety of materials including paint and patterned paper to create a cupcake collage! These works of art measure 12x12 and will include a colorful ribbon for hanging your masterpiece. The workshop is after school on March 5 from 3:30 - 5. The cost of the workshop is $30. Communicate Any PE Limitations to the School
If your child is recovering from an illness or injury and has certain physical limitations for PE, it is important to contact the PE teacher, Mrs. Asbury, and let her know what your child can or cannot do. Her email is jennyasbury@centraldayschool.com. Thanks for your cooperation.

Tennis Registration for Grades 6-8
CDS will sponsor a tennis team for students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades in the Shelby 7/8 league. The registration fee is $140 with a $15 early registration discount when registering by February 22. Chick Fil A Biscuit Fridays
Coming in March
Beginning Friday, March 1 the Student Council will begin selling chicken biscuits from Chick Fil A on Fridays only. Biscuits must be pre-orderd through the cdsthunder.com website. The Student Council will hand out the biscuits at 7:45 when students enter the building from morning drop off. Students will need to be finished eating by 8:15 or they will need to save the biscuit for snack time. For pricing and ordering details, click here. The Thunder Run date is Friday, April 12.
Used Uniform Sale:
February 26 and 27 will be the sale dates for the Used Uniform Sale. In order to Consign items you MUST contact Amy Carr at amycarr@centraldayschool.com to get a consignor ID and detailed instructions. Clothes may be dropped off in the office Tuesday, February 19 - Friday, February 22 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Please remember that all clothes must meet the school uniform guidelines and be in good condition (no holes, frayed hems, missing buttons, stains, etc.) We will contribute 10% of each item sold to the PTF, with all other proceeds from the sale going back to the consignor. Cash and checks only will be accepted.
Coins for Cupid

Wild Game Dinner with Steve Chapman
Sponsored by Central Church Men's Ministry
Author, speaker, and musician, Steve Chapman, will be the featured speaker at the Men's Wild Game Dinner on February 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Worship Center. Steve's enthusiasm for Jesus, family, hunting and humor shine in his books, including A Look at Life from a Deer Stand (nearly 300,000 copies sold); The Hunter's Cookbook (with his wife, Annie Chapman); and Great Hunting Stories.
