PTF Sponsors Coins For Cupid
Every Penny Counts!!! Last Day is Wednesday
The annual "Coins for Cupid" fundraiser is raising money for Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald House®, a program of Ronald McDonald House® Charities of Memphis is a "home-away-from-home" for families who are in Memphis while their child is receiving treatment for cancer or another catastrophic illness at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. All families stay completely free of charge. Just like in the past, students will have the opportunity to vote for their choice of who they would like to see as our CDS Cupid. Votes are made by simply dropping coins or dollar bills in the jar of their choice. Each cent counts as one vote, so a quarter equals 25 votes. Voting will continue until February 13. This year's Cupid candidates are basketball coach, Jay Foster, 8th grade teacher, Lisa Hughes, fourth grade teacher Ginger Bowles and PE teacher, Jenny Asbury. The winning Cupid will be revealed on February 14 (in a Cupid outfit, of course) at an assembly before the Valentine's parties. So, start collecting your spare change for a worthy cause!

Introducing the Thunder Book Club
First Meeting Tuesday, February 26

Have you ever been to Whoville? Can you write your name in a spider web? Ever eaten fried green worms? NO??? Then, you are missing out! These adventures and more are waiting for you inside a book!
Kindergarten through third grade students are invited to participate. We recognize that children read at different levels. So you are welcome to read to, read along with, or have your child read alone. Students should read the book before the book club meeting and then come ready to chat, chomp and create all based on the story.
The first Thunder Book Club meeting will be held Tuesday, February 26th at 3:30-4:30 in the CDS library. Participation is limited to the first 25 students to sign up. Parents are welcome to attend. There is a small fee of $5 each month to cover cost of snacks and crafts. The book is available in the CDS Library and the Collierville Burch Library. It can also be purchased at Barnes & Noble as well as online at Amazon.com or Half.com.
This month's book is:
Mercy Watson Thinks Like a Pig
By Newbery Medalist, Kate DiCamillo
