CDS Christmas Program
Tuesday, December 18 at 7:00 p.m.
Christmas Tree Students in grades 1-5 and performing arts students in grades 6-8 will be participating in our annual Christmas Program on Tuesday night, December 18 at 7:00 in the Worship Center. Everyone is welcome to this entertaining program featuring our students sharing a gospel-themed message. Students in grades 1-5 should meet in their classrooms by 6:30 p.m. Performing Arts students should meet in the music room no later than 6:15 p.m. Doors to the Worship Center will open at 6:00 p.m. Parents may only save seats if someone in their party remains in the seats.

Please keep in mind this program is mandatory for students in grades 1-5 and performing arts students in grades 6 -8 as part of their grade for the second quarter. An unexcused absence will result in a grade reduction. An excused absence must meet the criteria for excused absences in the CDS handbook.  

Christmas Program Attire  

+ Shirt - Red t-shirts for grades 1 - 5 that were purchased through the school. Shirts will be sent home on next Monday before the program. Students may wear a white long sleeve t-shirt underneath if they like.

Scarf - Students may add a winter scarf to wear around their neck. This is optional.

+ Pants for all grades-All students should wear jeans in good repair-no holes or tears.

+ Shoes for all grades-All students should wear athletic shoes.

Middle School Costumes - Students will either purchase their costumes through the school or will be given different instructions this week depending on the their character in the play.

Sugar & Spice & Everything Nice!
Sugar & Spice was a huge success! There was an awesome crowd for this first time event! Thank you for coming. We've heard really terrific comments from parents. Special thanks to Terra McFadin and Amy Carr, PTF Co-coordinators for planning the event. Another big thank you to all the volunteers who served and made it all happen including our 8th grade girls who volunteered to serve refreshments. A table full of books was donated to Agua Viva Academy in Guatemala. Order Your CDS Yearbook
Last Call to Purchase Yearbooks, Turn in Tomorrow

Yearbooks may be ordered by completing the form previously sent home in the Informer The form should be sent in with payment (cash or checks made payable to CDS). Yearbooks purchased after December 12 will be $50 while supplies last. Yearbooks will be distributed in May. candy caneCandy Cane Grams Are Back!

The CDS Student Council is selling Candy Cane Grams  until Friday, December 14. A Candy Cane Gram is a candy cane with a note attached that wishes the recipient a "Merry Christmas" from the sender, personalized with names. For grades 3-8, Candy Cane Grams can be purchased individually and personalized for $1. For grades K-2, parents or teachers can purchase a class set of candy canes for $20. A class set is 25 candy canes with extras for parents to distribute how ever they wish. (Students in K-2 will not be able to purchase individual Candy Cane Grams.) Order forms were included in today's Informer. Student Council reps will have a table set up to take orders every morning from 7:45 until 8:00 a.m. at the top of the stairwell used for morning entry. Orders will also be taken from noon until 12:15 outside Mrs. Bradshaw's room. Candy Cane Grams are pre-ordered and will be delivered on December 16. Smencils (Scented Pencils) for Sale!

Smencils are the fun and fragrant pencils with "holiday smells." Smencils will be for sale the last three days before Christmas break, Dec. 17-19,  before school only at the top of the stairs from 7:45-8:00 only while supplies last.  

 

Profits from both fundraisers will be donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  

Christmas Break Dec. 20 - Jan. 2
Early Dismissal Wednesday, Dec. 19 @ 12:15
wreath Students will be dismissed early at 12:15 on Wednesday, December 19 following their class Christmas parties. Lunch will not be served that day. Central Learning Center offers Holiday Care through the Christmas Break for families who need it. If you would like to make reservations for your child during the break, call 255-8133.

 

Middle School Exam Schedule
Students in grades 6, 7 and 8 will be taking semester exams the mornings of December 12, 13, and 14. In the afternoon students will have a study hall and specialty classes. Students in performing arts will also have afternoon rehearsals.Your child will be receiving a copy of the exam schedule this week. The exam schedule can also be viewed in your child's digital locker. 
January Lunch Ordering Deadline
don't forget The deadline to purchase lunches for January is Thursday, January 3. We will begin serving lunches January 7, so you will need to send a lunch with your child on January 3 and 4. There will be a service fee of $10 per child added to an order placed after the monthly deadline. If you have any questions, please contact Amy Carr at amycarr@centraldayschool.com.
Birthday Party for Jesus                         
December 18, we will celebrate Jesus' birthday with a program in the Worship Center at 10 a.m. Each class or grade level participated in special service project for Christmas. During the program, students will share what they did and how it impacted them. Parents are welcome to attend. Also at 10 a.m. parents can begin setting up the classrooms for the Christmas parties while the children are attending the program. Parties will begin at 11:00 a.m.

Wednesday, December 18 is an out of uniform day. We are encouraging students to dress nicely for their Christmas parties. Students may wear jeans in good repair - no holes or tears and no t-shirts with inappropriate graphics or writing.   
40 Degree Policy
thermometer If the temperature or wind chill factor is 40 degrees or below, students will not go out to recess. On those cold days, teachers will plan to have an indoor recess with activities in the classroom, gym or track for exercise. We will have more chilly days ahead, so please remember to dress students appropriately with jackets for the afternoon temperatures at recess time.  Also, please mark your child's jackets, sweaters, or other outerwear items with their names so if lost, they can be claimed. Lost items are in the school office. 
Celebrate the Season at Central
Family Christmas Eve Services
nativity Central will have two family Christmas Eve Services, at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on December 24 in the Worship Center. Your family is cordially invited! Childcare will not be provided. "Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you, he is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:11

Library Books Due
Library books for the first semester are due Friday, December 14. Any overdue book fines should also be paid by the end of the week. Please keep in mind report cards for the first semester are held for any large library fines or outstanding tuition payments.

Central Church Offers Christmas Break Outing for 4th-6th Graders 
Looking for an INCREDIBLE way to start your child's winter break? 4th, 5th & 6th graders are invited to the church sponsored Incredible Pizza Day on Thursday, December 20, the first day of winter break. Children should be dropped off at the Incredible Pizza in Cordova on Germantown Parkway at 11 a.m. and be picked up by 4 p.m. The cost is only $28 per child which includes unlimited buffet and drinks, a $20 gamecard and UNLIMITED attractions. So they can laser tag, go-cart, bumper car, miniature golf and miniature bowl all day long! Siblings and parents are invited also. Any sibling that is not in 4th, 5th & 6th grade must be accompanied by an adult and each person will be $28.
