Central Church Names Matt Surber As
New Senior Pastor

Pastor Matt Surber, wife Becky, and sons Caleb and Joshua Sunday, October 28, Matt Surber was named as the new Senior Pastor of Central Church.  The announcement was made during the morning worship services by Steve Strong, chairman of Central Church's Board of Elders. Pastor Surber is replacing Pastor Frey who with his wife Anne and three daughters left for the mission field of Ethiopia in July of this year.

Pastor Surber and his wife of 19 years, Becky, have two sons Caleb (9) and Josh (6). He will begin serving at Central on Sunday, November 18.

A native of Bryan, Texas, Pastor Surber, age 39, completed his undergraduate studies at East Texas Baptist University and holds a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Theological Seminary and a Master of Biblical Studies from Trinity Theological Seminary. Surber also did post graduate Ph.D. work at Trinity.

Pastor Surber served at Prestonwood Baptist Church, a church of approximately 35,000 members, in Plano, TX as a Student Pastor and Campus Pastor for nine years. In 2007, he became the Senior Pastor at the 5,000 member Istrouma Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA. Most recently, Surber served as Lead Pastor at The Fellowship Church in Nashville. We welcome Pastor Surber and his family to our Central family!

Kinderbasketball Registration Underway

In today's Informer is a registration form for kindergarten basketball. (Kindergarten registration is not being done online.) We hope to have enough players to develop one or more coed teams to play in an instructional league with several other area churches.  This will be dependent on the number of players. Kent Jones will be coaching, and we will also need parental involvement - assistant coaches, team moms, etc. Please consider being a part of your child's team by committing to help on the registration form. Once the teams have been established, we will hold a meeting to discuss practice and game scheduling. The registration fee is $100 with a $15 discount when registering by Friday, November 16. Final deadline to register is November 28. The plan is for teams to begin playing in December then continue in January after Christmas break.

Welcome Amy Carr to Replace Teri Ford
We were very blessed over the past 22 months to have Teri Ford serve as our school lunch manager and activities registration coordinator. She has done a great job and served the students, parents and staff very well. Teri accepted a position with another company in October, but has continued to help out until a replacement could be found. We are happy to announce that Amy Carr is on board to serve as the new lunch manager and activities registration coordinator. Amy is the mom of Ressie in 4th grade and also serves as one of our PTF coordinators. If you need to contact her, her email address is amycarr@centraldayschool.com.  We pray God's blessings on both women as they begin new chapters in their lives!

With cooler weather coming, students will be wearing jackets, sweaters, hats and gloves to school. Please remember to make sure your child's name is written in the tag of all outwear items. School uniform jackets and sweaters look alike and are hard to identify without a name. Lost and found items can be found in the school office.
