Camera Equipped Drone Shot Down at Cruel PA Live Pigeon Shoot

PRESS RELEASE

On Sunday, November 18, SHowing Animals Respect and Kindness (SHARK) video-documented a cruel live pigeon shoot at the Wing Pointe canned hunt club in Berks County PA.  One of the tools we used is a remote controlled drone, dubbed "Angel."

SHARK used the drone to successfully videotape illegal animal abuse committed at the pigeon shoot for nearly the entire day.  At approximately 3 p.m., a single sharp rifle crack rang out.  The Angel's video feed terminated, and the drone went out of control.  The pilot was able to regain control by switching to full manual flight, and brought the smoking drone in for a hard landing.

Damage was considerable, estimated at around $4,000. It should be noted that according to Wing Pointe's own rules, and according to its agreement with Perry Township, rifles are not allowed on the property.

"Shooting a drone is an extremely dangerous act," states SHARK President Steve Hindi who piloted the drone. "What we were doing was completely legal.  Someone at Wing Pointe is obviously so scared of our evidence that they are desperate to stop it, and they are willing to risk causing injury to keep that footage from becoming public."

SHARK was also able to videotape all of the pigeon shooters who left Wing Pointe after the drone was shot down. This means that we have the shooter on film, and will be presenting that evidence to the state police.

We will be going through all the video in the next day and will release the evidence as soon as we are able.

The following are pictures of the damage to the aircraft.

The bullet apparently tore through the battery as well.

There has already been media coverage of this issue, with more to come later today.
