Saturday I was at the Animal Acres hoedown in Acton, California. It was a great event, and I saw a lot of dedicated animal protectors from the Los Angeles and San Diego areas. On this same day, Hilary Duff, the “Ted Nugent” of the new generation, was performing in the Leganes bullring in Madrid, Spain.

What a stark contrast between the two events. Lori Bauston's Animal Acres is a sanctuary for farm animals. The animal residents cared for by Lori and her fantastic volunteers have histories that are heartbreaking, but their stories of rescue and rehabilitation are full of hope for the future.

Hilary Duff’s concert, on the other hand, was one of greed, selfishness, and the absolute rejection of animal humanity. Duff pandered to the very worst of humankind by performing in a facility that is devoid of hope for nonhumans. She put money into the pockets of these heartless animal torture/killers, and attracted young people into this pitiless environment.

I was particularly taken with Collin, a baby goat just rescued by Animal Acres. Collin’s ears were cut off by what can only be characterized as human scum.

Just a few weeks old, Collin is one of the newest arrivals at Animal Acres. He came to the sanctuary after being found wandering alone, with his ears cut off.

Hilary’s friends in the Bullfight Mafia are also fond of cutting off the ears of their victims, while they are still alive, as trophies.

In this photo, a bull lays dying after being tortured mercilessly, to only then have his ears cut off for a piece of "glory" in some murderer's hand.

The irony of spending time with an animal in Collin's condition on the same day that bullfighting was being further glorified by Hilary Duff was not lost on me. Hilary's refusal to acknowledge any of our contacts and the pleas of her fans by continuing with her bullring performance has pushed the Dump Duff campaign to the next stage.

Last Sunday night, SHARK’s Tiger video truck began its run in the Los Angeles area, prowling through Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade, Westwood, Beverly Hills and down the Sunset Strip just to name a few areas. The video footage features graphic scenes of both rodeo and bullfighting. People, many of them in the same age range as Hilary’s youthful fans, were clearly repulsed by what they were seeing.

In the nights to follow, the Tiger will be seen by many, many thousands of people, and they will not only include fans of Ms. Duff, but also some of her friends and associates. She is going to be exposed for the greedy and self-serving prima donna she obviously is.

Some Duff fans who have visited the DumpDuff.com web site have E-mailed us, expressing concerns that Hilary doesn’t make her own decisions. We reject these arguments. Hilary Duff is eighteen years old, not six. If she doesn’t make decisions now, when will she? Furthermore, Duff has refused to even respond to this issue, in spite of our contacts with her management company, her publicist and other overtures.

I’ll admit that Ms. Duff has apparently been saddled with pretty poor excuses for parents. To whatever degree they may be handling her career, it is obvious they have failed miserably in instilling any sense of compassion or decency in their daughter. But that doesn’t exonerate Ms. Duff, who is old enough to make her own decisions.

Hilary Duff has sanctimoniously stated publicly that she will not further her career by taking her clothes off in her movies. "Sweet and innocent" Hilary would have you believe she is far too moral and upstanding to lower herself to public nakedness. My response to her is that her appearances at rodeos and bullrings is immoral, indecent and obscene, and I'm pretty sure that the people who have been viewing the rodeo and bullfight footage on the Tiger's movie screens for the last couple nights agree.

Thanks to those of you who have contacted Kohl’s department stores, we have a response from the company, the critical part of which reads:

“As you are aware Hilary Duff is portrayed in Kohl's advertising for the Candie's line of merchandise. Ms. Duff is not an employee of Kohl's. While we can not confirm or deny the validity of the belief that she will or has performed at a bull fight in Spain, please be assured that the views shared by Ms. Duff are not necessarily shared by Kohl's.”

While we are glad that Kohl’s is distancing itself from Duff’s support of cruelty, it is not enough. If the company found out that an endorsee was visiting a crackhouse, the company would terminate its relationship immediately. Ms. Duff has chosen to do business with animal torturers. Kohl’s should want nothing to do with a person so devoid of compassion or decency. One former Kohl’s customer put it this way:

"Thanks for your response. However, I know that there is a boycott starting against anyone associated with Hilary Duff. Unless she stops supporting animal abuse, I'd suggest you dump her or your profits will suffer. It's a fair way of targeting animal abusers. I wish you'd dump her, because I used to shop at Kohls and really liked it.

For Ms. Duff’s part, she is unresponsive. That’s not surprising. She has been caught at rodeos, including at least one event where an animal was killed just before her performance. Duff’s bullring performance last Saturday lended credibility to the torture killing of untold horrors against animals.

SHARK is already planning to use the Tiger truck to accompany Ms. Duff’s future concert tours in the US. Kohl’s department stores can also be a good protest target that will serve to educate the public.

If you do not know the horror of bullfighting and rodeos, I urge you to go to DumpDuff.com and view the video of both these hideous abuses. Then channel your outrage by contacting Hilary’s business associates and letting them know that you do not support animal abuse or those who association with animal abusers. By telling these companies about www.DumpDuff.com they can see first hand the abuse and cruelty that their spokesperson is supporting.

Please contact Kohl’s and let them know that you do not shop there, but will consider protesting their store if their association with an animal abuser continues.

So far Candie’s, another company endorsed for profit by Duff, has not responded. I hope you will write to the company and ask if that means that they endorse animal abuse.

We are now working on flyers to distribute at Kohl’s, and at future Hilary Duff movies and concerts. If she thought the furor would die down after her bullring concert, she will learn that the opposite is true. In fact, Hilary has given us the opportunity to link rodeos and bullfighting together, to educate the public about two horrific animal abuse issues at once, and we are going to use it for all it is worth.

If Hilary Duff wants to resolve this issue, she has a lot of explaining to do, and a lot of changes to make in her career. It won’t be easy, and the longer she waits the harder it will be and the more damage her image will sustain. I encourage you to be part of demonstrating to this entertainer and to everyone else that a rotten attitude toward animal will have a very negative impact on a celebrity’s image and career.
