Meet Sam
West Valley College veterans, my name is Samuel Olivas and I will be one of the Veteran Outreach representatives for the Veterans Resource Center (VRC) during the spring semester. Before I get into my responsibilities for the VRC here is a little information about my background. I served nine years in the Marine Corps as an Avionics Technician for KC-130J aircraft. During that time I was stationed in Okinawa Japan for 2 years and then stationed in San Diego for the rest of my time where I was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. I separated from the Marine Corps in July of last year and started attending West Valley last semester where I was introduced to the VRC and what they can provide to veterans.  I will be in the VRC this semester to help those veterans who need advice on what resources are available to them and to help with any issues that come up throughout the semester. I will be available throughout the spring semester from the hours of 12:30pm to 5:00pm Monday through Thursday in the VRC building.

Meet Dan
Hello West Valley Veterans!  My name is Dan Marovich, and I one of latest and greatest members of the Veterans Resource Center here on campus.  I will be available to help our fellow veterans with their Writing and English needs, alongside any assistance regarding any of the many programs we have to offer.

I was in the Active Duty Army for eight years as a Parachute Infantryman, and spent two of those eight years fighting overseas in both Afghanistan and Iraq with the 1-501st Parachute Infantry, now known as the 4-25 Combat Brigade.  Since leaving the Service in late 2010, I have been attending college here at West Valley since the Fall semester of that year, majoring in both English and Administration of Justice.

I will be available for help Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Wednesdays after 2PM.  I look forward to seeing you!

Meet Andrew
Full name is Andrew Richard Rocha, I am thirty years old and was born and raised in San Jose, California.  I attended and graduated from Santa Teresa High School in south San Jose until I entered the U.S. Army November 12, 2002 as a heavy wheel vehicle mechanic.  I spent a total of nine years in the Army, six of which I was stationed in Germany and deployed from 2007-2008 to Iraq.  I then spent my last three years of service as an Army Recruiter in Santa Rosa, California.  Since then, I have been a full time business major at West Valley College since the summer semester of 2012.  I look forward to graduating from WVC this year (2014) and moving on to San Jose State to finish my BA.
