Guess Who Davened Last Shabbos...
YIBE mispallim had the pleasure of davening with both Chazzan Yaakov Rosenfeld and our YIBE Chazzan Sheni Eli Miller.
Chazzan Eli Miller davened Shacharis. His tefillas were holy, and they even inspired a few of our mispallim in the back of the shul--who with beautiful voices of their own joined in adding their own harmonies throughout the repetition. Can you imagine beautiful voices coming from the front AND back of the shul at the same time?
Chazzan Rosenfeld was warming up his voice in the back as well, and when he started davening Musaf everyone must have realized that whoever he was, he had to be "someone." His range and vocal agility in his voice's coloratura was a real treat.
Then there was the breathtaking duet of Chazzan Yossele Rosenblatt's Uvenucho Yomar with Chazzans Rosenfeld and Eli Miller singing side by side in front of the Aron Kodesh. The very slow tempo of Rosenblatt's composition, the changes from strong and bold to whisper-soft volumes, and of course their harmonies made this duet unbelievably awe inspiring. Two gentlemen happened to come in and walked down the center aisle--just to take a look around. You should have seen their faces staring at this unique unexpected experience--on an off Shabbos.
To give you an idea of what you missed, here is a video of two chazzanim performing Uvenucho Yomar. Listen closely and you will hear how amazing Rosenblatt's composition is, especially when sung as a duet.
