Real Jobs Real People rally to support San Juan Generating Station and San Juan Mine

Miners and workers from the San Juan Generating Station along with their families and members of the Operating Engineers Local 953 union gathered in the parking lot of Webb Chevrolet last weekend to show their support for keeping the San Juan Generating Station and San Juan Mine operational past 2016.

We here in the Four Corners need to continue to voice our support for the San Juan Generating Station and San Juan Mine - as there are some very vocal parties that want to see the generating station closed entirely at any cost.

Here is how you can help:
  • Visit www.RealPeopleRealJobsNM.com to learn the facts about the PRC case.
  • Sign and return the postcard you received in the mail.
  • Attend the rally on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 11:00 - 1:00 at Webb Chevrolet.

Currently the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC) is considering an open case that will determine the fate of both San Juan Generation Station and San Juan Mine. Read More....

Secretary Barela will be hosting a Town Talk regarding LEDA in Farmington
The Local Economic Development Act, or LEDA, is a fund designed to help New Mexico businesses grow. Local, San Juan County businesses, have participated in this program over the years, receiving funding for infrastructure improvements that will help them expand and employ more people.

"Next week, Economic Development Secretary Jon Barela and his team will be in [Farmington] to discuss Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) policies to ensure the best use of state dollars to promote job creation tied to infrastructure.

The town halls are open to the public but we encourage economic development professionals, local governments and businesses who are involved in economic development issues to participate. Input gathered from the town halls will help formulate LEDA policies for the upcoming year and beyond,"

says Theresa Valera, Director of the state Economic Development Division.
