I'm All Stuck Up!

I experienced acupuncture for the first time this past month when I traded services with local acupuncturist, Bruce Hinkley of To the Point Acupuncture & Wellness in Fort Collins. I had no idea what to expect, not knowing whether it would hurt like crazy or be stimulating in some way.... yes, I said stimulating! I know that sounds strange, but I have heard many stories of people who have been released from additions of every kind, migraines, chronic pain and inflammation, disease, etc. But I had never tried it out for myself. In fact, I didn't really know why I personally would seek out acupuncture, but as I filled out the intake forms for Bruce, I realized that a longstanding issue with hormone imbalance could be corrected, so I decided to go for it.
Did it hurt? No, not at all. After delivering four children naturally, I think I can handle a few needles! Bruce says that the sensations may vary by individual though-- I'm just tough meat, I guess! I liked how Bruce explained everything he was doing and the rationale behind it, and I was impressed with the level of detail and accuracy that this healing art demands. Not only are there thousands of acupuncture points in the body, but they all have Chinese names and correspond to various organs and body systems-- of course, from an Eastern perspective-- very interesting to me after studying Chinese Medicine during my coursework to become a Master Herbalist.
So, are my hormone imbalances cured now? Not yet, Bruce says that in China clients will complete 10 treatments in 10 days-- a sort of rapid-fire approach. I will need several treatments as well for hormones. But, the other issue Bruce addressed was cold feet, especially at night. I am happy to report that my feet are now quite toasty, so this gives me hope for my hormones!
