June 25, 2016

June has been an exciting month for the Jungle Friends Outreach and Advocacy Committee! We had a successful screening of Cowspiracy and I recently attended Taking Action For Animals, sponsored by the Humane Society of United States. This conference encourages advocacy and teaches animal lovers how to better protect our furry friends. 2016 has been an exceptional year for animal welfare in the USA, thanks in large part to many of the advocates who attended.

The highlight of the trip was meeting with Congressman Ted Yoho's aide to discuss H.R. 2920: The Captive Primate Safety Act! After discussing the details of the bill, I was able to hand over nearly 100 letters signed by Jungle Friends' supporters urging Congressman Yoho to cosponsor this bill!
This meeting was just the first step...

While in Washington DC, I spoke with multiple animal advocates and policy makers; these conversations all had the same message: Your Voice Matters! Our elected officials want to know what's important to us, and they take our phone calls, letters and emails very seriously. Contact your Local Representatives to encourage their support for The Captive Primate Safety Act! It can often take many months (or longer) to get policies like these passed, so it's important for us animal lovers to keep spreading the word.

Will you be in LA July 7-10? If so, please stop by the Animal Rights Conference to visit with Kari and Sara -- Kari will speak about the Captive Primate Safety Act. At their exhibit table they will have invitations to our Vegan Spiritual Retreat next year, Monkey Masterpieces, tee shirts and other monkey stuff -- perfect gifts for friends and family!

Please make a donation to continue supporting our efforts! Together, we can greatly improve the lives of countless animals around the world, especially primates.

Huge thanks to everyone who attended our Cowspiracy Screening and to Field Roast Grain Meats for donating some of the tasty vegan treats! RSVP today for our next screening of Vegan Everyday Stories on July 23rd. Bring a vegan dish to share and a non-vegan friend and be sure to arrive early for a perimeter tour of the sanctuary! This event is organized with the help of Gainesville's local Vegan Meetup group, join today!
Thank you to everyone who has supported Jungle Friends with our outreach efforts; your generosity and compassion allows us to help more animals receive the love and care they deserve.
