My heart broke when I held my sweet, sweet Baby Rosie for the last time. Baby was with her human friends and monkey companion, Gizmo, when she gracefully left this world for the next on April 21, 2016...Baby Rosie was at peace. Safe travels to my dear friend.

Dr. Schirmer performed her necropsy and found a cystic mass on her left ovary. He sent in bone marrow and lymph node samples to Dr. Calderwood-Mays at Florida Vet Path. Baby Rosie's diagnosis is lymphocytic/well differentiated malignant lymphoma.

Gizmo, Baby Rosie's long-time companion and best friend, was with her through her hospice care. Giz followed Rosie to our newley renovated Jody's Wellness Jungle hospice/elder care center. In this care center, we are able to offer hospice care where the patient's companion can join them. Giz was always respectful of Baby Rosie and he snuggled up with her every night.

Gizmo cried when Baby Rosie died, so we quickly moved him near some of his best friends where he could grieve in their company. Anna Claire was one of Gizmo's friends who comforted him after Baby's death -- we are considering an introduction between the two.

Everyone at the sanctuary misses our precious Baby Rosie. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to know, love and care for one of the sweetest monkeys I have ever met. Baby Rosie arrived at the sanctuary in 2003 and she will be remembered by so many.

Please send a donation to our Monkey Medical Fund in memory of sweet Baby Rosie. This fund enables us to continue to give the very best medical care to all of the monkeys who live at Jungle Friends.
