OMNICA News and Announcements . . .

Our Space-out Holiday Party  2015 was a good year and we celebrated the upcoming Christmas break Omnica-style. Our Star Wars Christmas tree (at left) foreshadowed the fun to come. The entertainment focus was space movies - Spaceballs, Lost in Space, Star Trek, and Star Wars.

Teams of six (at right) gathered in the Atruim lounge
where we assembled space-themed Lego toys and anticipated the upcoming festivities. We lunched and played a big-screen Jeopardy game with questions based on the four movies that Earl, Cathy, Stacy, and Dan  reviewed over the previous days. There were a lot of laughs, then we were off to the next adventure!

After lunch we trekked to our designated quadrants in the far reaches of Omnica where the teams of six were tasked to build a "Death Star" model from a huge box of materials Dan had assembled for each group. Supplies of cardboard sheets, yards of fabric, miles of duct tape, string, glue guns, scissors,
and coils of PVC tubing enabled us to  exercise our imaginations without restraint. We  dispensed with any pleasantries and went to work (see Trung, RonS, Jeff, Scott, and Brad at left).

Time was up about an hour later and we transported our creations to the rear parking lot where we "launched" them for all to see (at right). One was big and egg-shaped, two approximated radio antennas, and one kind of looked Death starish. As  a talented group of engineers and designers, we were dismayed our creations wouldn't appear threatening to any planet larger than a beach ball, but we sure had a lot of fun.

The 2016 Omnica Calendar is now available.

We do a lot of work on projects that involve amplified DNA, so it is appropriate to feature the Omnica orb in a DNA strand. The artwork was beyond me, but one of our ID team offered to help out. The artist's name can be found below the image. If you email his name, I'll send you a Starbucks gift card. Make the best use of it by reading
when to drink coffee for maximum effectiveness.

You should have received your calendar by now. If you are not on our mailing list, email your contact information and I'll send one out.
