In the News
The Jacques Lancelot International Clarinet Competition was held in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Japan in August. The competition is to honor the memory of one of the greatest French clarinetists of his generation and is held every two years in Japan and France alternately. First prize was awarded to Pierre Genisson, second prize to Kaori Tanaka, and third prize to Mikhail Mering. Franck Russo won the Koichi Hamanaka Award, and Yokosuka Award was presented to Pierre Genisson.
The United States Navy Band (pictured above) hosted the third annual Navy Band Clarinet Day on Saturday, November 8 at the Washington Navy Yard in the historic Sail Loft. The event featured Mark Gallagher, Mitchell Estrin, Eugene Mondie, Paul Cigan, Mark Jacobi and Wesley Rice.
The Academia Internacional de Clarinet "Clarinet�ssim 2014" was held July 21-26 in Valencia, Spain. Performing artists included Enrique P�rez, Luis Miguel M�ndez, Francisco Javier Ros, Carlos LaCruz, and Rafael Albert.
The Buffet Crampon USA 2014 Summer Clarinet Academy took place July 14-19 at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. The faculty included Ixi Chen, Stanley Drucker, Daniel Gilbert, Jonathan Gunn, and Andr� Moisan.
The Mid-America Clarinet Festival was held November 14-16 at Ohio State University. The event featured performances, master classes, clinics and vendors celebrating the clarinet and its repertoire. Featured international artists included Caroline Hartig, Richard Stoltzman, Lucca Saracca, Nicola Bulfone, Stephan Vermeersch, and Piero Vincenti as well as approximately forty American artists.
The third Lisbon International Clarinet Competition will be held March 30-April 2, 2015. Applications are now being accepted until January 31. Click here for more information.
The fourth annual Ball State Clarinet Festival was held on November 22 and featured Jane Carl, Elizabeth Crawford, Daniel Healton and Eric Salazar.
