Greetings!

The purpose of this newsletter is to provide you with a new, safe maintenance procedure for Vinyl Asbestos Tile. If an existing floor contains asbestos and the floor must be removed, an asbestos abatement program should be followed in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations for handling the material and proper disposal. Worn vinyl asbestos tile should be sealed to extend the service life. Replacement tiles can be used to replace single tiles that require no mechanical or chemical removal, thus avoiding total abatement. Conserving vinyl asbestos tile or "ugly" VCT installations may require pieces to be removed and replaced in certain areas. Finding these replacement pieces that match the existing floor may be possible, but unlikely, by contacting the manufacturer.Vinyl asbestos flooring that is in good condition should be left in place and always protected by a sealer.

Some of the links provided on this e-mail will help you identify Vinyl Asbestos Tile (VAT) and give you current industry recommendations for maintenance from both federal & state regulatory agencies. It will also give you ideas for providing options to your customers where replacing their VAT or VCT  tile is not an option, but coating it with our pigmented Perma Seal II may be a viable alternative. Sometimes, to obtain new customers and conquer new markets you have to look for business in between the cracks or under rocks.
