Praise God! I Can See!

Over the past 30 years, we have seen big victories for God. And we have seen many moments where God is evidently working in a particular situation. One of those moments happened at the end of a busy morning at Peredo Community Hospital a couple of weeks ago.

RoRo was sitting at the nurse's desk talking to some of the team when Beatrice (pictured above) walked right up to the counter. She started talking fast and furious to RoRo. Finally, there was a brief pause in the conversation, and Cameron asked RoRo what she was talking about.

Beatrice's only pair of glasses had broken. She had come to see if we had any glasses that would help her see. RoRo looked at Cameron and they both smiled. He asked Beatrice to wait for a minute.

They walked back to a storage room where we have five very large boxes of eyeglasses sitting. Cameron wondered how they were going to find her a pair that she could see out of without an optometrist at the hospital that day to check her eyes first. He and RoRo prayed and started sorting through the glasses.

As Cameron touched each pair, his mind went back to a hot few days of summer camp at Round Lake Christian Camp in NE Ohio. Sandy was the dean of camp that week. She had asked him for a project that her students could do that would to help the people of Haiti. She was very persistent until he found a project that would work!

The Round Lake campers collected, cleaned, bagged, and scanned glasses for Haiti. Now, Cameron had his hands on the glasses they had prepared and needed God to guide the next steps. Would there be a pair for Beatrice?

RoRo and Cameron found a couple of pairs of glasses marked for a female and took them out to Beatrice to try on. Amazingly, the second pair she tried were PERFECT!

Because of donations, students, and a dedicated camp dean in Ohio who wanted to help HCO, Beatrice was blessed with the gift of being able to see!

Beatrice said, "Praise God! You are my brother, and God is good. I can see!" She left the hospital praising God!

A few minutes later, as they were marveling at the way God orchestrated this encounter and provision of sight, Beatrice walked back into the hospital smiling.

When she found RoRo, she told him: "I got all the way out the gate and said to myself, "Wait! I forgot my glasses at the clinic!" She searched for them and then realized she was wearing them! She was able to see so well, she didn't even realize she had her glasses on. Beatrice wanted RoRo to know how much the glasses had already made such a big difference for her.

He made sure she understood the label could be saved and used in case anything happened to this pair of glasses. She would be able to find another pair with the correct prescription. Beatrice thanked everyone again, and left for a second time, laughing and praising God!

We hope you will join us in praising God for Beatrice - for Round Lake and Sandy's campers - and for the wonderful ways God works among those who desire to help!
