Build an Adventure
A blogger mom named Christie has written a great article about her and her son's first experience with Scouting at Camp La-No-Che.

Christie did a great job writing about her day with the BSA and describing how Scouting can make such a positive impact on a young boy's life, as illustrated by this quote:

"Boy Scouts allows 'boys to be boys' while teaching them life skills to take on the world. It's amazing how often I hear my son's uncles say how they were able to use a skill that they learned at Boy Scouts of America many years ago. I want that for my son too. I want a lifetime of discovery, happy memories and a skill set to take on the ultimate adventure of life."

You can read the complete article on her blog.

The 2015 Friends of Scouting Campaign is off and running ...

In the next few months a Scouting representative will visit your Pack, Troop or Crew and give you an opportunity to invest in the future of Scouting here in Central Florida.

Funds raised in our 2015 Friends of Scouting campaign will help pay for unit service, leader training, youth scholarships, recruitment efforts, program development, program support, camping and much more.

Your gift is important. It makes many crucial things possible:
  • Our local programs and activities are among the lowest cost in the country
  • We are able to maintain Camp facilities for year-round outdoor programs
  • Parents and leaders have a Scout Service Center that coordinate Scouting activities and provide customer service to members
  • We can provide Camp scholarships, uniforms, and registration fees for at-risk youth
  • There is a full-time Professional staff who counsel, guide, and motivate your volunteer leadership
  • Volunteers, parents & Scouts have access to a library of materials for organization, recruitment, training, and program development
  • All Scouts and adult leaders have sickness, accident and liability insurance for their protection
  • We are able to conduct impactful community service projects, like our Scouting for Food drive - Central Florida's largest one-day food drive
  • ...and a whole lot more!!!
Please make plans to participate at your next Blue & Gold or Court of Honor.
If you are unable to attend your Blue & Gold or Court of Honor, please help your unit achieve 100% family participation by making a donation using this link: My Gift to Help Scouting Succeed

On behalf of the over 25,000 Scouts here in Central Florida, thank you for being a part of this important campaign!! Thank you for helping!!

BSA Racing Opportunity

We at The Boy Scouts of America Racing Team are always excited when we can offer fun and exciting opportunities, especially when the benefits go directly to Scouting Families. Our new partnership with "Alert Today Florida", focuses on Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety in Florida. Florida has almost 50 deaths and 2500 injuries per year on average that occur with children in the Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts age range, from motorists hitting them while walking and riding their bicycles.

Alert Today Florida has teamed up with Boy Scout Racing Driver Scott Lagasse Jr. to bring awareness to the problem and teach principles that will bring more safety for our youth. One of the best ways to stay on top of the issues is by connecting with Alert Today Florida through Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Scott Lagasse Jr. and BSA Racing decided to offer an amazing Race Prize Package for simply becoming part of the solution. For those who will take one minute by typing 2 words on the Alert Today Florida Social Media pages, will be entered into a drawing for a VIP race package to the Miami Homestead NASCAR Race as Scott Lagasse Jr.'s personal guest. The VIP prize package includes:

· Grandstand tickets for 4 people to the NASCAR Nationwide Series Race on November 15, 2014
· Tour of the NASCAR Nationwide Series Race Garages on November 15, 2014
· Meet and Greet with Alert Today Alive Tomorrow NASCAR Driver Scott Lagasse Jr.
· Hotel accommodations for 1 night for 4 people
· 4 Race Hats
· 4 Race T-Shirts

To enter, you simply take a pledge to be more aware of how to be safer as a pedestrian or bicycle rider. You go to the Alert Today Florida Facebook and/or Twitter pages and post "I commit" or "I pledge". It is that simple. To increase the odds, all members of the family can enter.

As the BSA driver I am a big believer in this message, but we can't save lives if we don't get the word out. We have attached a flyer regarding the details of the pledge and the dates of the contest. As a partner in Scouting I would like to personally ask you to forward this flyer and information to every Scout Family or friend in your database and post it on your social media pages so that we can get this important message out.

I would love to see a Scout Family win this prize to spend the NASCAR Race Day with me in Miami/ Homestead. I will be giving it my all to bring home a win for The Boy Scouts of America!

Yours in Scouting,
Scott Lagasse, Jr

Building Blocks of Scouting
As a Scouter, you are aware of the importance of Camp La-No-Che to the Central Florida Council and the Scouting program. The Building Blocks campaign is a wonderful opportunity to help support Camp La-No-Che while leaving a lasting legacy that will trigger memories for years to come. Please join us in paving the way to the future of Camp La-No-Che. I invite you to join us in investing in a personalized brick to be placed in the Seneff Family Plaza in front of the W.T. Bland Dinning Hall. It's a wonderful way to give back to a camp that has meant so much to us and leave your legacy at the same time. You can personalize the brick for yourself, buy one for someone else!

There are so many memories to commemorate at Camp La-No-and this is a great way to leave our legacy for future generations of scouters. We hope you will join us and leave your legacy as well by investing in a brick for the new Seneff Family Plaza.

You can order and personalize your bricks on this link! http://cflscouting.doubleknot.com/event/the-building-blocks-of-scouting/1606473
